Eldon Lowell Farner, 91, passed away at home in Albany, Oregon, on Nov. 9, 2018. He was surrounded by family as he left his earthly body for heaven. He was born March 25, 1927, in Wakefield, Nebraska, as the youngest child of Frank and Maude Farner.
His family eventually settled in Caldwell, Idaho, where he attended high school. Upon graduating in 1945 he enlisted in the Army. He served in Germany until the fall of 1946.
Eldon returned to Caldwell where he met and fell in love with Naomi. They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this past summer. During their courtship and early marriage he received his degree in education from The College of Idaho.
Eldon and Naomi moved to Owatonna, Minnesota, for a couple of years to be near Naomi’s family before moving to Oregon to teach in Prineville and Nyssa, finally settling in Albany to raise their children. He had a heart for teaching and loved instructing, whether it was in the classroom or on the sports field. He continued his education with a Master’s degree from Oregon State University which he used to go into administration.

Russel Edward Rosenau, age 97, of Waldorf, MN, died Saturday, Oc. 27, 2018 at the New Richland Care Center. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf, MN, with Pastor Michael Mathews officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the church on Monday (9-11 a.m.). Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery in Waldorf, MN. Russel E. was born November 30, 1920 in Blue Earth, MN, the son of Edward and Eva (Ogilvie) Rosenau. He grew up on a farm right outside of Waldorf. He graduated from Waldorf High School. He was an electrician and worked for Steele/Waseca Electric Co-op. While working there he wired and brought electricity onto most of the farms in the Co-op area. After a time, he decided he wanted to farm. So, after marrying the love of his life, Delores M. Schroeder on June 9, 1945 in Waldorf, together, they purchased a farm south of Waldorf. Besides farming, Russel raised many hogs from birth to market. Russel would love to drive around the country side in his red pickup checking out all the crops in the area.

Memorial services for Paula Jane Routh of New Richland, MN, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland, MN. Pastor Paul Andree will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the LeSueur River Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Routh died Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at her home in New Richland. She was 70 years of age.
Paula was born May 16, 1948 in Albert Lea, MN, the daughter of Henry and Dorothy (Hagen) Thompson. She was a graduate of New Richland High School in 1966 and attended Mankato State University. On July 5, 1969 she was united in marriage to David Routh at the LeSueur River Lutheran Church. For a short time after marriage she worked for the Waseca Mutual Insurance Company. Paula was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and belonged to the church circle. She also was a member of the Home Extension Group in New Richland.

Funeral services for Lorayne M. Shurson of New Richland, MN, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at the All Saints Catholic Church of New Richland. Father Mike Cronin will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Richland.
Lorayne died Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the New Richland Care Center. She was 96 years of age.
Lorayne was born April 25, 1922 on the family farm in Freeborn County, the daughter of Francis and Mary (Paczkowski) Mucha. She graduated from Freeborn High School in 1939 and the Mankato Beauty School in 1940. In 1940 she and her twin sister Lorencie moved to New Richland and opened the Twinette Beauty Shop. She was united in marriage to Merle S. Shurson on June 26, 1945, they lived in New Richland where Merle owned a trucking firm.
Lorayne was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church where she served in the Ladies Circle and the Church Guild. She was a member of the Andrew Borgan American Legion Auxiliary and had served as treasurer. She owned and operated Lorayne’s Beauty Shop. She also enjoyed playing bridge and watching the Minnesota Twins.
