Funeral services for Darlene M. Dobberstein of rural New Richland, MN, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the First Lutheran Church in Waldorf, MN. Pastor Giles Zimmer will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Waldorf Cemetery.
Darlene died Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca, MN, she was 84 years of age.
Darlene was born June 27, 1934 in Glenville, MN, the daughter of Nels and Inga (Burkhow) Mehus. She attended public school in Glenville and graduated from Albert Lea High School. She was united in marriage to Carl Dobberstein on June 9, 1956 at the First Lutheran Church in Glenville, MN.
Darlene made her home in rural New Richland since 1958 where she helped her husband on the family farm. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Waldorf. At one time she had been a member of the Area Extension Club. Darlene loved gardening and raising flowers, card club, Bingo, baking and cooking and raising chickens.
Darlene is survived by her children; Debra (Edward) Hebel of Owatonna, MN, Donald (Madonna) Dobberstein of Waseca, MN, Dean Dobberstein of Waldorf, MN, Diane (David) Fette of Waseca, MN. There are five grandchildren: Dustin (Debbie Slater) Hebel, Mark Dobberstein, Jenny (Mike) Danberry, Amy (Jay) Watje and Anthony Fette. Great grandchildren include Logan, Lukas and Levi Hebel, Hailey, Brycan and Chloe Danberry and Tenley Watje. Also surviving are siblings Virgil (Helen) Mehus of Rushford, MN, Marion (Audrey) Mehus of Glenville, MN, Herb (special friend Carol) Mehus of Albert Lea, MN, Donna (Denny) Nelson of Glenville, MN, and sister-in-law Ruth Mehus of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl, and siblings Irene Gordon, Glen Mehus, Gene Mehus, Arlo Mehus and grandson Brian Dobberstein.
