Funeral service for Mark S. Jones, age 90, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Christ Episcopal Church. Father Henry Doyle will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded by local veteran’s organizations. A private family burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 5 p.m., Sunday, December 2 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. Mark died Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community after a short illness.

Mark S. Jones was born on August 14, 1928 in Albert Lea, the son of Albert and Mildred (Spencer) Jones. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1947 and the University of Minnesota in 1951 with a degree in political science from the college of liberal arts.  During college, Mark was accepted into the ROTC. Upon graduation he served with the US Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Base in Dayton, Ohio before being shipped off to Nagoya Air Base in Japan for 17 months during the Korean War. He maintained his association with the Air Force for many years thereafter and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Active Reserve before retiring in 1977.  On July 2, 1955, Mark was united in marriage to Beverly Thompson in Austin, Minnesota. He entered the family insurance business, known as Big Insurance Agency with his father in July of 1954. The business was founded by his grandfather in 1895.  Mark held his insurance license until August of 2018.

Funeral services for Patrick "P.J." Skelton of New Richland, MN, will be held at 11 am. Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at St Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Richland, MN. Reverend Scott Williams will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4-8 p.m. at St Peters

Church. Interment will be in St Peters Cemetery, New Richland, MN.

P.J. died Thursday, November 22, 2018 at the Parkview Care Center in Wells, MN, he was 41 years of age.

P.J. was born February 26, 1977 in Wells, MN, and was a graduate of New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva High School and the South Central Technical College in Mankato, MN. Most recently he was an assistant manager for Anytime Fitness in Owatonna, MN.

P.J. enjoyed playing fastpitch softball, golf and fantasy football, was a huge Florida Gators fan but the best times were spent with his family and friends. Traditions at home always included a jar of Jiff peanut butter and passing the food clockwise around the table! P.J. was someone to always count on if you needed help with anything.

P.J. is survived by his mother Penny Ann Purdie of New Richland, MN, brother Jason (Terina) Skelton of Blue Earth, MN, nephews Anthony, Espn, and Nole, aunt and uncle Harry (Becky) Kruse of Janesville, MN, uncle Eric Purdie of Eagan, MN, and special young lady "Riley." He was preceded in death by his grandmother Purdie and great-grandmother Skelton.

Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.

Bettye Doris Scholljegerdes, age 91 of Waseca died on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018 at Foxdale in Waseca.

Born on March 11, 1927 in Waseca County, she was the daughter of William and Amelia (Rieck) Timmerman. She attended Waseca High School and married Willard Lawrence Scholljegerdes on Dec. 29, 1946 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in New Richland. Following their marriage, they lived in Owatonna for a few years before moving to the family farm in Otisco Township, Waseca County in 1950 where they farmed and milked cows. Bettye loved the Lord, her family, church, and the farm. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Otisco and the Ladies Aid and a member of the Farmer's Union.

She is survived by her children, Suzanne Scholljegerdes of Waseca; Joyce (Dennis) Routh of New Richland, Donna Bauman of Chimacum, WA, Carol (Alan) Matz of Waseca, Patti (Eric) Kalis of Waseca, and Amy (John) Alvis of Ward, AR; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Jean Timmerman and brother-in-law, Richard (Delaine) Scholljegerdes.

Funeral services for Milo S. Madson will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at West Freeborn Lutheran Church. The Reverend Steven Schwartz will officiate. Visitation will be from 3–7 p.m. on Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and again one hour prior to the service on Saturday.  Burial will take place in West Freeborn Cemetery, and military honors will be accorded by the Freeborn American Legion.

Milo died on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Woodlands – St. John’s Campus.  He was 86 years old.

Milo Sherman Madson was born on February 17, 1932 in Freeborn County to Joseph and Marie (Thofson) Madson. He attended school in Freeborn.  

On July 10, 1953, Milo was united in marriage to Ardis (Jensen) in Osage, Iowa. The couple was blessed with four children.

Milo served his country in the United States Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. After his service, he came back to work on the farm; caring for livestock and tending to his crops. He farmed up until just a few years ago.

Milo was a member of West Freeborn Lutheran Church, serving many roles including: Church Council, Choir, Luther League Counselors, and Council President. Milo was also a member of the Hartland Legion, Dairy Association, Pork Producers Association, and was a past president of the Manchester/Hartland Telephone Company. When he wasn’t working or volunteering, Milo enjoyed snowmobiling, playing cards, bowling league, cooking and grilling for family and friends, and traveling all over the world with his wife, Ardis.

Theresa Kasper, formerly of Ellendale, MN passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving family on Nov.13, 2018 at the age of 91 at St. Mary's hospital in Rochester MN. Mass of Christian Burial is set for Saturday, Nov. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newry Township, rural Geneva. Father Thomas Niehaus will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Newry Township. Visitation will take place Friday, Nov. 16 from 4-7 p.m. at Meger Funeral Home in Owatonna, MN, and one hour prior to the service at the Church.

Theresa was born on April 4, 1927, daughter of Joseph and Dora (Houdek) Renchin. She graduated from Hayfield High School. She was united in marriage to James Kasper on Nov. 18, 1947. She worked at many places including: Owatonna Tool Company, Ellendale school, Food service industry, Steele County Home Health Aid and Amway distributor.

Theresa enjoyed gardening, sewing, shopping and volunteering with 4-H and at the Blooming Prairie Nursing Home. Theresa was an active member of the St. Mary's Church and was active with the Minnesota Citizens Concern for Life. She had a big heart for her family and friends. She enjoyed farm life, church and being active in the community. She always welcomed everyone into her life and into her home.
