Ordean C. “Bob” Hagen was born August 14, 1943 to Orland and Carol (Weed) Hagen in their home outside of New Richland, Minnesota. He passed away December 10, 2018 at Oakland Mercy Hospital in Oakland, Nebraska, at the age of 75.
Bob grew up on the family farm with his two sisters and two brothers. He was quite the prankster in his school years and loved telling his jokes in the later years. Bob attended school in New Richland.
On October 18, 1960, Bob was united in marriage to Arlene B. Pedersen in Alden, Minnesota. Together they had many adventures and lived in many places until settling in Oakland in 1973. Bob made his career as an avid salesperson. He has sold many things, including livestock feed, cars and real estate.
Bob enjoyed gardening, golf and playing cards with his buddies. He had also been known to tinker in car restoration and house remodeling. He was co-owner of Goldie's Retreat with his lifelong love, Arlene.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene; grandson, Christopher Hagen; brothers, Harland and Ordwin “Buzz” Hagen; sister, Darlene Dinse.

Charles Eugene Boettger, 90, of Pine Island, MN passed away on December 5, 2018, at Pine Haven Care Center.
Charles was born August 31, 1928, the youngest child of John and Sarah (Thatcher) Boettger on their farm West of New Richland, MN. \He was baptized as a child and nurtured his faith throughout his life, most recently being a member of the First Baptist Church of Kasson.
Charles received his education from the New Richland school. He went on to get a degree in Baking from Dunwoody College as well as an Environmental Services degree from Michigan State. He worked in Environmental Services for most of his career. Charles served in the Army for two years during the Korean War. He cooked and coordinated entertainment for the troops. He enjoyed cooking, growing cacti, camping, watching the Minnesota Twins, and reading westerns. Charles was a Boy Scout leader for several years, earning the Order of the Arrow during this time.
Charles met his wife of 44 years, Dorothy Mae Heikes, at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, MN, where they both worked. They were married September 20, 1961, at First Baptist Church. Together they raised two sons, Peter and Steve Boettger. He took great pride in his sons, their wives, and his grandchildren. In recent years he delighted in his great-grandson.

The Lord welcomed Donna Mae (Anderson) Perrine, 89 years “young” of Spring Park, MN home on December 3, 2018.
Donna, “Nona,” will be remembered for her hats, hugs & huge heart! She had a passion for traveling, flower gardening, the lake, antiquing and entertaining. She grew up in the Great Depression and was always a hard worker. Her motto was “I would rather wear out than rust out.” Nona's advice to her grandkids, who she adored, was to always remember your Heavenly Father, parents and Nona, pick good friends and eat your greens! Her pretty blue eyes and beautiful smile brought special men into her life. She was married to Bill Perrine for 40 years/divorced, special friend Del Bultman, soulmate Bob Olsen and Presbyterian Homes companion Clint Sams. She loved well and was well loved in return.
Donna is once again united with her parents Joe and Terrence, brother Ross Anderson, sister Cherri Bergland and son Gari Perrine.

Funeral services for Marleen E. Steen of Freeborn, MN, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2018 at The Church of All Saints in New Richland, MN. Father Mike Cronin officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, New Richland.
Marlene died Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at St Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. She was 81 years of age.
Marlene was born November 5, 1937 in Blooming Prairie, MN, the daughter of Lawrence B. and Blanche E. (Betlach) Antl. She graduated from Blooming Prairie High School. On December 28, 1957 she was united in marriage to Alvin E. Steen in Blooming Prairie.
Marlene was employed for over 23 years as a CAN at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center and for 5 years as the activities director at the New Richland Care Center. After retirement she continued to be a caregiver and enjoyed taking care of people. She was an active member of the All Saints Church in New Richland.

Lowell D. Newgard, age 77 of Bloomington, passed away on November 24, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Newgard was born June 27, 1941 in Albert Lea, MN, and grew up in Hartland, MN. Dean met Elizabeth Legler (“Liesel”) at a dance, and they married in 1961. The family moved to Bloomington, MN, where they raised their four children. Lowell retired from Grazzini Brothers where he was a terrazzo floor installer for many years. Lowell loved spending time fishing, hunting and playing poker with his family at his cabin in Aitkin, MN. He was very proud of accomplishing a hole-in-one during a golf round some years ago. He was also a big Twins and Vikings fan. His granddaughters remember him best for his patient, warm, playful and loving demeanor.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Newgard; children, Regina McDonough, Cheryl (Vernon) Olson, Steven (Demetria) Newgard, and Terry (Joyanne) Newgard; grandchildren, Danielle, Kristen, Jamie, Janel, Laura, Katie, Lanay, and Amber; five great-grandchildren; brother, Frederick Dale (Arlene) Newgard.
A service will be held on Friday, December 7th 11 a.m. at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 9947 Lyndale Ave South, Bloomington, MN, visitation one-hour prior. Reception to follow at the Everett McClay VFW, 311 W. 84th St., Bloomington, MN. Private interment, Bloomington Cemetery.
