Christenson hits 50 of 50

In a week with few nice nights for shooting, Conference 3 of Class 7A saw teams  reshuffle a bit and gain on the number two team from Faribault.

But this was of little concern to the NRHEG team as they posted their best round of the season and extended their lead to 4,286 points. This represents the first comfortable but not yet insurmountable lead of the season for any team.

The school record keeps falling, but you get the feeling the best is yet to come for the NRHEG boys’ 4x800-meter relay team.

Tyler Schlaak, Nate Krause, Josh Fleming and John Cole teamed up to break the school mark again last week, clocking 8:31.99 for the Panthers’ only first in the Section 2A True Team meet at Wells.

But the conference meet is this week and, after that, post-season and possibly a trip to the state meet.

“They continue to peel off of their school record,” said coach Duey Ferber.

The NRHEG High School golf teams competed at Blooming Prairie Thursday, May 12.

The girls were fourth among five teams with 255 strokes for nine holes. USC won with 232.

Scoring for NRHEG: Kyra Possin, 55; Bayli Possin, 62; Tali Wayne, 69; Ryley Koziolek, 69. Grace Logan also played.

The NRHEG boys were fifth with 251. Blooming Prairie was first at 175.

For the Panthers: Atom Oquist, 54; Nick Shultz, 59; Rob Jewett, 64; Ethan Thompson, 74. Chris Stenzel and Ross Lenort also played for NRHEG.
