The NRHEG boys’ track and field team is a little banged up, and the final score reflected it at the Maple River Invitational Tuesday, April 26.

The injury-plagued Panthers were seventh among eight schools with 39 points. Minnesota Valley Lutheran won with 112, Maple River was second with 106. The Panthers finished ahead of USC/AC.

“We faced some very good teams tonight,” said coach Duey Ferber.

The lone win was by the 4x800 relay team of Tyler Schlaak, John Cole, Nate Krause and Josh Fleming, who clocked 8:57.26.

The NRHEG High School golf teams competed in the Dodge Invitational at Dodge Country Club Tuesday, April 26.

The girls totaled 479 strokes for 18 holes, good for fourth place among nine schools. Rochester Lourdes won with 387.

Kyra Possin posted the best round for the Panthers, finishing sixth among individuals with a 99, 50 on the front side and 49 on the back. Other scores that counted: Grace Logan, 121 (57-64), Tali Wayne 128 (63-65) and Ryley Koziolek, 131 (66-65). Kallie Spooner and Maci Surat also played.

Tucker throws three-hitter; Schultz infield single ends it

The only game of the week for the NRHEG High School baseball team was a good one.

Hosting a strong United South Central squad, the Panthers rallied for a walk-off 2-1 win in the bottom of the seventh inning on a cold Friday at the soon-to-be renamed Legion Field.

NRHEG senior Dempsey Tucker pitched his best varsity game of the season to date, trading zeros with the Rebels’ Ryan Kloos for six innings. Tucker had a no-hitter through three innings while Kloos allowed only a sharp single by Eli Lutgens the first time through the lineup.

“It was a great pitcher’s duel between Dempsey and Kloos,” said Panthers coach Drew Paukert. “Each did a nice job getting out of some tough spots and gave up a combined five hits.”
