Camerer hits two home runs at LCWM

The NRHEG softball team bounced back nicely from its first loss since the season opener.

The Panthers needed only five innings to dispatch Alden-Conger in a nonconference game Friday, winning 13-0 at Alden.

“It was a good team win,” said coach Wendy Schultz. “The girls played errorless defense and hit the ball pretty well.”

And Anna Lundberg handcuffed the Knights, allowing only one hit while striking out five and walking two.

The Panthers, meanwhile, took batting practice.

It was cold, it was rainy, and it was windy, but the NRHEG clay target team would not be driven from the range as they started competition in the MN Clay Target Spring League last week.

The team is fielding 65 shooters this spring, which like the state is an all-time high. Having a large team means they are going up against some well known large schools from across the state. But the size of the school can mean little when weather is your opponent. Scores across the board for the NRHEG shooters were down a bit, but overall they were still competitive enough to put the team in second place behind the team from Faribault

Steady Betty remains steady. Sophia Fischer continues to turn it up a notch every meet.

Senior Hailey “Steady Betty” Schuller won the 100 high hurdles and fellow senior Fischer set another PR for second in the shot put as the NRHEG girls’ track and field team finished fifth in the Maple River Invitational Tuesday, April 26.

“This was a very tough meet against some very tough teams,” said coach Duey Ferber. “Hailey continues to be our points leader. Sophia is on a tear in the shot put.”

Schuller won the high hurdles in 17.43 seconds, and she combined with Caitlin Goette, Marnie Wagner and Maddie Wagner for first in the 4x200 relay in 1:56.51.

Fischer tossed the shot 36-5.
