Christine Espeland, 53, went to Heaven early Sunday morning on November 2, 2014, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She died on All Saints Sunday as a tribute to her strong Christian faith.
Christine was born Christmas day in 1960 to Steven and Agnes Kubicek in Owatonna, MN. She had two brothers and a sister. Chris went to high school in Ellendale, MN where she was involved with the band and was a majorette. She attended college in Winona, MN.
Christine married her high school sweetheart Wayne in 1980. They moved to Arizona with their daughter (Rachael) in 1983. After calling Arizona home, they had two more children Ranae and Robyn. They have lived in Cottonwood since 1986.
Georgianna Roberts, 84, of Wells, MN passed away Sunday, October 26 in Yorktown, Virigina at the home of her son Karl Roberts.

We asked the Lord to heal her or take her home. And the Lord said, “Come on home, Georgie. I have this mansion for you. I know you will be pleased. Stand tall and walk through the Gate.” So one beautiful Sunday Georgie did just that. She was led through that gate by her husband Corvin, son, Donald (standing and walking tall), and her father and mother George and Lucille Batt and was given to the Lord.
Georgianna was born June 8, 1930 to George and Lucille (Cook) Batt in Omaha, Nebraska. They moved to Iowa, where they lived until they moved to Hartland, Minnesota and took up farming.
Vincent J. Schultz, age 85 of Waseca, died on Friday, October 31, 2014 at his home.
Born in Waseca County on September 12, 1929, Vince was the son of Jack and Lillian (Ross) Schultz. He attended country school in Waseca County. On June 3, 1950, he married Mary Kajewski at St Mary’s Catholic Church, in Waseca County. He farmed for most of his life until he and Mary moved into Waseca in 1991. He then began working at Lakeside Golf Course.
Luella E. Fischer, 90, of Owatonna, died Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Owatonna Hospital.
She was born March 1, 1924 in Lemond Township, Minnesota the daughter of William and Wanda (Willert) Krenke. Luella was united in marriage to Reuben Fischer on October 4, 1944 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Meriden.
Funeral Services for Karen R. Widboom, of New Richland, will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland. The Reverend Paul Andree will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland, and one hour before services at the church. Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland is assisting the family with arrangements.
Karen Ruth Schmuck was born to her parents, Kenneth and Alice Schmuck on September 10, 1952 in Luverne, Minnesota. She grew up on their family farm just north of Luverne. Church and school activities with friends filled her life. She attended and graduated from the Luverne Public School system.
Memorial services for James A. Follmuth of New Richland, MN, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel. Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville, MN.
James died Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center. He was 61 years of age.
James was born June 2, 1953 in Albert Lea, MN, the son of Berton and Marion (Cragg) Follmuth. He was a graduate of Glenville High School. James had been employed by the DME, Rock Island Railroad as an engineer for over 30 years. He had spent most of his life in Freeborn County and the past 23 years in New Richland.
Marvelle A. Peterson, age 82 of Waseca, went home to be with her precious Lord and Savior on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Born and raised in faith on the family farm near Garretson, SD, she was the daughter of Ralph and Agnes (Andersen) Sorenson. She attended rural country school and graduated high school from Augustana Academy in Canton, SD. She then attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, where she met her future husband. Marvelle married Raymond Peterson on June 7, 1950 at Palisade Lutheran Church in Valley Springs, SD. After getting married, they lived in various cities in South Dakota, New York, and Minnesota.
Mary Jo Wallace was born on August 16, 1977, in Waseca, MN. She was the daughter of Brad and Kathy Wallace. Mary Jo was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her Catholic faith as a youth at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Gaylord. She received her education in New Richland and Arlington, MN, and was a graduate of the Sibley East High School Class of 1996.
Funeral services for Donald Bartness will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Richland. The Reverend Paul Andree will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 on Wednesday at the Friedrich Funeral Chapel New Richland, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Hartland Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the New Richland American Legion.
Donald passed away on October 12, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Albert Lea. He was 88 years old.
Leon Franklin Piltz, age 91, of Waldorf, MN, died Monday, October 6, 2014 at Traditions of Waterville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Waldorf. Visitation will be Friday, October 10, from 4-7 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Pastor Larry Sipe will officiate, and interment will be in the St. Joseph Community Cemetery in Waldorf.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 on Saturday, October 18 at the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva for 77-year-old Ruth E. Neidermeier. Ruth passed away on September 26 in Macclenny, Florida.
Ruth was born on August 14, 1937 in Windber, PA to parents, Emmanuel and Edna Leighow Crew.
Ruth married Wesley Neidiermeier, and in the 1980s, Wesley served as pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Ellendale. The Neidermeiers moved to St. Paul after they left the Ellendale and Geneva area. In 2009, Wesley and Ruth moved to Florida, settling in Mcclenny and attended the Christian Fellowship Temple.
Elaine Gurene Tesch, age 89, of Mankato, formerly of New Richland, MN, died Thursday, October 2, 2014 at her daughter’ s home in Mankato. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 6, 2014 at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf. Visitation will be Sunday, October 5, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Pastor Michael Mathews will officiate and interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Waldorf. LeRoy A. Kofstad, age 90, of Hartland, MN passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the New Richland Care Center. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 6, at the Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Shawn Stafford will be officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the Hartland Cemetery.
LeRoy A. Kofstad was born in Waseca County on November 4, 1923 to Arthur and Eloise (Katzur) Kofstad. He has been a lifelong resident of the area, graduating high school in New Richland. He married Bonnie (Pollei) Kofstad on May 12, 1946 in Mankato.
Funeral services for Dale Piltingsrud will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday October 5, 2014 at Vibrant Life Assembly of God, in Ellendale. The Reverend Diane Butler will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1-3 on Sunday at the church. Burial will be at a later date.
Dale passed away surrounded by family at his home in rural New Richland. He was 84 years old.
Dale Piltingsrud was born on July 9, 1930 in Callender, IA to Rudolph and Dorothy M. (Olson). The family moved to the New Richland area when Dale was 11. He graduated from New Richland High school. After high school, Dale attended St. Olaf College and Bethany Fellowship College. He received a degree in Religion and Philosophy.
