NRHEG girls improve record to 5-1
The NRHEG softball team won three games rather handily last week, but they didn’t always make it easy on themselves.
On Tuesday at Legion Field, the Panthers had to rally from a 6-0 deficit after the top of the first inning before eventually 10-running Medford 16-6. They won 9-4 at St. Clair on Monday and beat Blue Earth Area 12-2 in five innings at home on Friday, improving to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Gopher Conference. The Panthers have not lost since falling in extra innings in the season opener.
NRHEG 9, St. Clair 4
The Panthers broke open a scoreless game with five runs in the third, taking a 9-0 lead before St. Clair finally scored three in the fifth.

The NRHEG girls’ track and field team hosted a triangular at New Richland last Thursday.
It was the Maddie Wagner-Hailey Schuller show.
The Panther duo combined to win five individual events and ran on a first-place relay as NRHEG won with 94 points to 73 for Maple River and JWP with 18.
Wagner’s wins: 100 meters, 13.6 seconds; high jump, 4-10; long jump, 15-11.5. Schuller’s: 100 hurdles, 17.2, 300 hurdles, 53.1. They teamed with Caitlin Goette and Marnie Wagner to win the 4x200 in 1:56.8. Marnie won the 200 in 28.6. Also winning were Emily Eder, discus, 88-1; Sophia Fischer, shot put, 35-2; and Emily Prigge, 3200, 14:12.8.

Tucker, Schultz toss complete games
Last week was an up-and-down one for the NRHEG baseball team.
It started and ended on a down note, but in between the Panthers picked up their first wins of the season behind strong pitching from Dempsey Tucker and Jack Schultz.
The Panthers ran their record to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in the Gopher Conference under second-year head coach Drew Paukert.
Medford 5, NRHEG 2
The Panthers hosted Medford and struggled to produce runs at Legion Field Monday, April 18.
Freshman Sawyer VanMaldeghem doubled in his first varsity at-bat, while Cole Staloch, Dempsey Tucker and Palmer Peterson singled. NRHEG stranded six baserunners in the first three innings.
