Camerer hits two home runs at LCWM
The NRHEG softball team bounced back nicely from its first loss since the season opener.
The Panthers needed only five innings to dispatch Alden-Conger in a nonconference game Friday, winning 13-0 at Alden.
“It was a good team win,” said coach Wendy Schultz. “The girls played errorless defense and hit the ball pretty well.”
And Anna Lundberg handcuffed the Knights, allowing only one hit while striking out five and walking two.
The Panthers, meanwhile, took batting practice.
Gabby Muri was 3-for-3 with a double and three runs; Grace Johns 3-for-4 with two runs, two stolen bases and one RBI; Paige Knudson 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run; Rachel Collins 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Kayley Camerer and Natalie Aaseth doubled. Lundberg and Torri Stencel also hit safely.
The Panthers, 2-1 in the Gopher Conference, improved to 6-2 overall.
The girls traveled to Lake Crystal Monday, April 25 and lost the nonconference game 13-7, their first setback since an extra-inning loss in the April 7 opener.
Camerer had a career night, blasting two balls over the fence, one with the bases loaded, finishing 3-for-4 with six RBIs. Johns, Collins, Knudson, Muri, Aaseth and Skylar Lembke added one hit each.
Lundberg gave up 10 earned runs on 12 hits, with two strikeouts and six walks.
Winning pitcher Sydney Ziegler gave up seven earned runs on nine hits, striking out four and walking four.
“Hats off to LCWM,” said Schultz. “They definitely had a great night hitting and committed only one error. We made some base running and mental errors that were costly. Kayley had a phenomenal game.”
