Funeral services for Ruth Chicos will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at All Saints Catholic Church in New Richland, MN, with Father Michael Cronin officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland, and again one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ruth passed away peacefully on June 19, 2019 at New Perspective Senior Living Community in Faribault, MN with family by her side. She was 93 years old.

Kathryn Ruth (Convey) was born on September 1, 1925 in Waldorf, MN to Thomas and Rosella (Fox) Convey.  She grew up near Waldorf where she graduated from high school. On November 16, 1948, she was united in marriage to Thomas J. Chicos Jr. in Waldorf.  They had seven children together. Ruth helped Tom out on their family farm with Tom bragging that she was the best farm hand you could have. She also helped with their purebred Hampshire swine business with pigs being sold nationwide. Beyond farm work, raising and taking care of her children was a full-time job in and of itself! 

Memorial services for Dorothy May (Larson) Herstrom of Minneapolis, MN, were held at 11 a.m.  Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the Washburn McReavy Funeral Home on 50th and Vernon in Edina, MN. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service. Private family interment will be held later that day in Ellendale, MN.

Dorothy died Thursday, June 13, 2019 in Minneapolis, MN. She was 97 years of age.

Dorothy was born May 7, 1922 in Albert Lea, MN, the daughter of George and Hannah (Lageson) Larson. She attended public school in Albert Lea until about the age of 14 when her parents moved to Bath, MN.  Her parents owned the Bath grocery store and ran the chicken shack as well where many a night they would show outdoor movies and sell fried chicken. She graduated high school and went onto nursing school at Saint Mary’s School of Nursing at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She graduated nursing school July 1, 1943 and worked briefly as the head nurse at Saint Mary’s Mayo Clinic before heading to Galveston, TX in March 1944 where she served in the WWII Cadet Nursing Corp. The purpose was to help alleviate the nursing shortage which existed during World War II.

Memorial services for Dale Orland Mowers of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel in Albert Lea. Reverend Richard Hegal will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private family interment will be held at a later date in the Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood, Iowa. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Area Veterans Groups.

Dale died Thursday, June 6, 2019 in Blooming Prairie, MN. He was 93 years of age.

Dale was born January 14, 1926 in Northwood, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Anna Mowers. He attended public school in Iowa. In 1948 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Stephens and together they had five children.

Dale was a WWII veteran serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. Following the war he returned to Iowa and then went to Railroad School in Minneapolis, MN. He worked for the railroad for over 38 years and part time for 20 years as the City Clerk in Ellendale, MN. Dale was a member of the Elks, American Legion Post 56 and the Eagles Club. Some of Dale’s favorite past times were watching the Minnesota Twins and playing cribbage.

Albert Gordon “Cob” Kath, age 73, passed away, June 13, 2019, at home on the farm, surrounded by family.

Friends may greet the family from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2019 at the Brick Meger Funeral Home, Owatonna and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. The funeral service will be 11 Monday June 17, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Meriden.  

Cob was born July 15, 1945, in Waseca, MN to parents Albert and Margie (Studer) Kath.

Cob grew up in Waseca, and attended country school and high school in Owatonna through the 10 grade. He then returned to the family farm to work alongside his parents and brother. Cob married Linda Johnson August 9, 1969 in Medford, MN. Cob and Linda made their home on the family farm where they raised their four children. In 1970, they started a partnership with Cob’s brother Ron, milking cows, raising hogs, and a little bit of everything else. 

Barbara Gail Papinski, age 63 of Waseca died on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.

Born on October 22, 1955 in Waseca County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Walter and Gloria (Knudson) Possehl. She graduated from Waseca High School in 1974. Barbara married Richard Papinski on August 2, 1986 in Chicago. She most recently worked at Country Neighbors in New Richland. She enjoyed traveling, watching Hallmark movies, and collecting snowmen. Barbara was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca and the VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Richard of Waseca and three sons, Jacob, Joshua, and Jordan Papinski all of Waseca. She is also survived by siblings, Paulette (Paul) Born of Waseca, Marty (Colleen) Possehl of Claremont, Richard (Val) Possehl of Waseca, Bruce Possehl of Waseca, and Diane (Jerry) Roeker of Janesville; sisters-in-law, Janet Possehl of Waseca, Judy Busic of Chicago, and Nancy Barco of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles Possehl; and her parents-in-law, Henry and Josephine Papinski.
