Pru Nystuen, age 93, went to her heavenly home on July 3, 2019, at Mt. Olivet Careview in Minneapolis.
She was born September 10, 1925, in Newfolden, MN, the youngest child of Sam O. and Regina Mae Lee. Pru graduated from Newfolden High School in 1943 and attended Augsburg College. She married Herbert Hokanson on August 24, 1946, and joined Herb on his family farm near Otisco.
She became the church organist at Vista Lutheran Church and was active in the church organizations. She was involved in Waseca Area Hospice as a grief support group facilitator. Pru enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, baking, and playing piano. At the age of 85, she recorded a CD, “Piano by Prudence.” She accompanied for the Waseca and local Metro Christian Women’s Club, the Waseca Chorale, Sons of Norway Norsota branch, Emmaus Lutheran and Vista Lutheran Choir, and the Tower Point Choir in Mesa, AZ.
Besides being a farm wife and mother, Pru taught piano lessons for 45 years in her home and also in New Richland and Waseca, where she moved in 1990. Herb passed away in 1986 and Pru continued to live on the farm until moving “to town.” Pru and David Nystuen were married on September 3,1994, and lived in Lakeville, MN. She was church organist at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN and retired in 2011 after almost 60 years of providing beautiful church music. Pru and David wintered in Mesa, AZ for many years until Pru’s health began to fail. David’s devoted companionship allowed her to live at home for many years, despite the onset of dementia.

Connie “Granny” L. Kuchenbecker, age 81 of Waseca, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 6, 2019.
Born in Bath Township, Steele County, Minnesota on July 10, 1937, Connie was the daughter of Adolph “Bob” and Lillian Grunwald. She graduated from Ellendale High School in 1955. On June 13, 1959 she married Lyle T. Kuchenbecker at the First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. After high school she worked at Federated Insurance, the E.F. Johnson Company, American Family Insurance, and later became a senior claims representative at Waseca Mutual for many years. She enjoyed her grandkids and other family, gardening, antiquing, and supporting the Minnesota Twins. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Waseca.
Connie is survived by her significant other, Dave Jellum of Waseca; three children, Alan (Sherrye) Kuchenbecker, Roy (Lisa) Kuchenbecker, and Jodi Clayton (Wayne Sell), all of Waseca; six grandchildren, Nick (Brooke) Kuchenbecker, Jeff (Kacie) Kuchenbecker, Krystal Kuchenbecker, Jeremy Kuchenbecker, Mandi (Jason) Brown, and Katie Clayton; eleven great-grandchildren, J.P. Kuchenbecker, Kalyn Sandmeyer, Carson Kuchenbecker, Daries Powell, Charley Kietzman, Shakiyah Powell, Cole Kuchenbecker, Cohen Brown, Kyler Kuchenbecker, Arie Brown, and Finley Erdman; two sisters, Joan Kaiser of Owatonna, and Alene (Brian) Cook of Dunedin, FL, two sisters-in-law, Beverly Braaten of Owatonna and Betty Grunwald of Embarrass; and one brother-in-law, Larry (Diane) Kuchenbecker of Owatonna. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Marlyn and Larry.

Roland “Rollie” Krienke, age 83, of New Richland, died on July 2, 2019 at his residence.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Larry Griffin, officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in St. John’s Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Roland Fred Krienke was born on March 15, 1936, in rural Waseca County to Fred and Leona (Roeker) Krienke. He attended Waldorf High School. On November 24, 1959, Rollie was united in marriage to Evangeline LaFayette at the Trinity Lutheran Church Parsonage. Together they had one son and lived in various places throughout southern Minnesota. Rollie worked various jobs throughout his life, some of these included working at Herter’s in Waseca, driving taxi, and working for various farmers in the county. He raised dobermans and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. Rollie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and visiting with family and friends. George Vincent Doyle, age 85, of Waldorf, MN died Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, MN. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waldorf, MN, with Fr. Joe Fogal officiating. Visitation will be Monday, July 8, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Military Honors will be accorded by the Waldorf American Legion Post. Interment will be at St. Joseph Community Cemetery in Waldorf, MN. George Vincent was born April 8, 1934, in Waseca, MN, the son of Edward and Teresa (Weller) Doyle. George graduated from Waldorf High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Okinowa, Japan working in the occupation forces as a military policeman. Upon his Honorable discharge, he returned to the Waldorf area and farmed. George was united in marriage to Mary Staloch June 30, 1962 at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. He was the third generation Waseca County Commissioner for 12 years and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church Choir and VFW Madden Post in Waldorf. George enjoyed emceeing Farm Fest tractor pulls with his friend Dennis Rossell. George could be found socializing in the south end of Waldorf and sharing his Irish humor with everyone he met. He would always be found whistling to just to about any tune. Hunting, his dogs and polka music were his great loves.

Funeral services for Lorraine A. Evenson will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, New Richland, MN, with Rev. Scott Williams officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the Friedrich Funeral Chapel, New Richland, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lorraine passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019 at the New Richland Care Center. She was 87 years old.
Lorraine Alma (Wenzel) was born on December 20, 1931 in New Richland, MN to William and Alma (Klinger) Wenzel. She grew up in New Richland and graduated high school in 1949. On June 27, 1951, she was united in marriage to Winston Evenson, the love of her life. The couple was married at St. Peter Lutheran Church in New Richland. Lorraine worked 26 years at E.F. Johnson’s in Waseca.
Lorraine enjoyed the simple things in life. She did not need much to be happy. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Peter Lutheran Church, where she was active in Altar Guild, Ladies Aide, and quilting. She was also a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed going shopping, going for walks, and dancing. At the center of her life was her family and her happiest moments were the times she shared with them
