Palmer “Spank” Granholt, age 62, of rural Bloomer, WI, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013 after a short, courageous battle with cancer.

He was born to Palmer “Bud” and Betty (Bothum) Granholt in Albert Lea MN on August 16, 1951. He was raised on a farm in rural Glenville, MN. He married LuAnn Lee in October of 2005, making their home in Bloomer, WI.

He is survived by his wife: LuAnn; children: Mark Granholt of Scotsdale AZ; Becky of Colorado and Chad Sommer of Bloomer; granddaughters: Ashleigh, Elle and Claire Reece of Burnsville MN; mother: Betty of Albert Lea MN; brother: John (Ann) Granholt of New Auburn WI; sister: Kathy (Greg) Nelson of Glenville MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by son: Rod Sommer; father: Palmer “Bud” Granholt Sr.; brother: Ronnie; infant sister and grandparents.

A celebration of his life will be held at their home on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. Olson funeral home in Bloomer is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at olsonfuneralhomebloomer.com


In Wells, Minnesota, Michael Norman was born on Tuesday, December 4, 1962, to parents, James Edward and Lois Louise (Schulz) Bushlack. The middle of three children, Mike’s childhood years were spent growing up in New Richland, MN. With a deep passion for sports, he enjoyed playing all types of ball with the neighborhood kids. Excelling in high school sports, Mike was a multiple all-conference selection in baseball and football, as a running back. In 1981, he graduated from New Richland-Hartland High School.

Vincent G. Mathews, most recently of South St. Paul, Minn., passed away on August 30, 2013.

He was born on September 17, 1926 in Waseca County. He was a 6th Marine Division WWII veteran and retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by brother John Mathews and sister Rita Suek. He is survived by loving wife of 57 years, Toni: children: Michael (Darlya) Mathews, Pat (Patty) Mathews, Mary (Jeff) Bradley; grandchildren, Erin, Toby, Anna, George, Mara, Charlie, Magdalena, Kris, and Lauren; brothers Paul (Ruth) and Dick (Sharon) Mathews; sisters Phyllis Peterson and Janet (Beth) Mathews; sister-in-law: Claire Mathews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 5th at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Minneapolis. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Glen Gerald Beckmann, age 64, of Ellendale, MN, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at his home following a short battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Wells, MN. Visitation will be Friday night from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Pastor Paul Woolverton will officiate and interment will be in Dunbar Cemetery in Minnesota Lake Township following the service. Military honors will be accorded by the Wells Color Guard. Charlotte passed away on August 26, 2013 at age 64. She was born in Sherwood, ND, on November 22, 1948 to George and Sadie (Palm) Jensen.  She attended North Dakota and Ellendale schools.  She married Roger Holland September 7, 1969 in Ellendale.  They made their home in Hartland and had a son, Paul.  Charlotte enjoyed wildlife, nature, and flowers. She made many, many trips out west to the Big Horn Mountains. She was a wonderful wife and mother and will be deeply missed. Roger and her family and friends loved her very much and always will.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and her son Paul in 2003.

Graveside services held Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. at Trenton Cemetery in Freeborn County. Everyone who needs directions to the service can meet at Hartland Community Center at 12:30 p.m. and follow the family to the service. In honor of Charlotte, a gathering of family and friends and a memorial luncheon will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Hartland Community Center.
