Gerald “Jerry” E. Talley, 78, of Owatonna, died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital from a result of a stroke. 

Gerald was born March 8, 1935 in Owatonna, Minnesota the third of nine children to Melvin and Beatrice (Stransky) Talley. He was raised in Owatonna and attended school. He was drafted in to the United States Army and later received his honorable discharge in 1958. He began working at Steven’s Hide and Fur in Owatonna and then for Owatonna Bottling for 28 years. Following, Gerald worked for Anhorn’s Service Station in Medford.

Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and was a life member of the American Legion in Owatonna.

He is survived by his sisters Margie (and Odean) Otterson of Clarks Grove; Lori (and Gerald) Wobschall of Ellendale; Barb (and Jack) Monahan of Waseca; a sister-in-law Corinne Talley of Owatonna and two brothers-in-law Richard “Dick” Amberg of Owatonna and Melvin Mathis of Varnville, SC.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers John Talley; James Talley; Michael Talley; two sisters Gladyce Mathis; Sandra Amberg; and a sister-in-law Gladys Talley.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Michaelson Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard Sliper officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna. Military honors will be provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
