A family service will be conducted for Jay Alan Rudolph, 54, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. Jay’s ashes will be interred beside those of his late father, Dale Rudolph.

Jay was born in Waseca September 13, 1958 the fourth of five children to Dale and Elaine (Wenzel) Rudolph. He lived during his early childhood in New Richland and in the Minneapolis suburb of Crystal. The family later moved to Rochester, MN where Jay remained throughout his life. He was found dead in his home in April. An autopsy was performed and the death has been ruled accidental.

Jay was known for his easygoing humor, kind heart, and trusting nature. He was a family favorite who loved family gatherings and reminiscing.  He was instantly liked by nearly everyone who met him and could tell very entertaining stories. He was admired as a craftsman for stunning auto bodywork, and was enthusiastic about his free time and interests that included jet skiing, snowmobiling, racing and working in his garage.

Jay was the proud father of identical twin daughters Jessica Rudolph and Jennifer Rudolph, and adored his grandchildren Baylie and Aidan, all of Rochester.

Jay also leaves his mother, Elaine Rokke, who lives in the Twin Cities under care for memory illness; sister and brother-in-law Susan and Charlie Servick of Maple Grove; sisters Sandy Rudolph of Sargeant and Lora Rudolph of Tucson, AZ; brother Gary Rudolph of Rochester; nieces and nephews Graham Servick, Paige Servick, Geoffrey Costigan, and Meghan Costigan; aunts and uncles Mary Wenzel Dinneen, David Wenzel, Frank Wenzel, Wayne and Claudine Rudolph; and 13 cousins.

In addition to his father, who died in 2004, Jay was preceded in death by his grandmother Pearl Wenzel, grandfather Herb Rudolph, aunt Bev Strapko, and uncles Eugene Rudolph and Daryle Rudolph.

The family enjoyed jet ski outings on Clear Lake in Waseca and relatives are invited to gather for lunch at the Boat House Restaurant lakeside in Waseca prior to the interment.
