Elsie A. Roemhildt, age 91, a long-time resident of Wilton Township, Waseca County, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the New Richland Care Center following an extended illness. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin, officiating. Interment will be held at St. John’s-Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Iosco Township, Waseca County. 

Visitation will be held at the Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville on Sunday, August 25, from 2 to 5 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday morning. There will be a 5 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home on Sunday. 

Elsie Agnes, the daughter of Arthur and Martha (Schroeder) Ewert, was born on April 25, 1922, in Alton Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. Elsie was baptized on May 14, 1922, and confirmed on March 21, 1941, both at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville.  She attended the Janesville High School and graduated with the class of 1940.  On May 21, 1941, Elsie was united in marriage to Armin Rudolph Roemhildt at the Ewert Family Farm in Alton Township, Waseca County. After many years of marriage, Armin passed away on March 12, 1998. 

Elsie worked at E.F. Johnson Company in Waseca for almost forty years as a lead lady in the assembly department. She and Armin resided on their Wilton Township farm for 50 years.  Although they moved off the farmstead in 1991, Elsie and Armin continued to reside in Wilton Township. Elsie was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville.  

She is survived by her daughter, Charlene M. Roemhildt of St. Paul, and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Armin; her daughter, Yvonne E. Roemhildt; her two sisters,  Mabel Mende and Laura Wiebold; and by her brother Edwin and sister-in-law, Bernice Ewert. 

Elsie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and friends at the New Richland Care Center for all of their loving care and gracious support.  Also, A special thank you to Susie Abbott, Sheryl and Delwin Root, and Frank and Wanita Groskreutz for all of your help over the last years of Elsie’s life.
