Glen Gerald Beckmann, age 64, of Ellendale, MN, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at his home following a short battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Wells, MN. Visitation will be Friday night from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Pastor Paul Woolverton will officiate and interment will be in Dunbar Cemetery in Minnesota Lake Township following the service. Military honors will be accorded by the Wells Color Guard. Glen Beckman was born on May 20, 1949 in Mankato, MN, the son of Gerald R. and Jean (Bathke) Beckmann. He graduated from Minnesota Lake High School in 1967. He was united in marriage to Paulette Zabel on July 14, 1973. Glen honorably served our country as a member of the United States Army. He attended St. John’s College in Kansas, and was proud to have graduated very recently from Riverland College. Glen worked a variety of jobs throughout his lifetime including positions at the Ellendale Truck Stop, Wilson’s, Garst, Del Monte, Vogt Cabinet Shop, Thin Film Technology in North Mankato and Marcon/Viracon in Owatonna. He also worked as a Block Tender and as a Strike Tool Box Supervisor for Hormel. Most recently he enjoyed his position at Home Depot, and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army. He enjoyed camping, golf, going on trips, meeting people and learning new things. He was a skilled carpenter, plumber, electrician, remodeler, and gardener. He also liked to cook, especially Belgian waffles. Glen loved spending time with his family.

Glen is survived by his wife of 40 years Paulette of Ellendale; children, Michael Beckmann of Mankato, Mathew (Renae Thompson) Beckmann of Hartland, Michele (Mike DeMar) Beckmann of Albert Lea, Marlin (Laura Hager) Beckmann of New Richland; 8 grandchildren, Evan, Dylan, Levi, Adrianna, Morgan, Payden, Lukas and Nathan; siblings, Ruth (Bob) Little of Mankato, MN, Duane (Nancy) Beckmann of Rochester, MN and Vicky (John) Grommersch of Bemidji, MN; brothers-in-law, Elwood (Beth) Zabel of New Ulm, MN and Scott Jones of Ellsworth, WI; and sister-in-law, Doris Beckmann of Austin, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother David and sister Nancy.
