NRHEG’s Tuttle, Hanna earn medals at state track meet

The 2023 season finally came to an end last Saturday for NRHEG High School track and field athletes.

It didn't happen without fanfare.

The Panthers claimed two places and set a school record in the Class A state meet at St. Michael- Albertville High School.

"It was a wonderful performance by all the Panthers!" said NRHEG coach Duey Ferber.

Despite playing up an age group, the Quad Cities Baseball Association U10 team won the championship in last weekend’s 11U Albert Lea Baseball Classic. Game Scores were Cottage Grove 11, QCBA 7; QCBA 7, Owatonna 4; QCBA 13, Albert Lea 3; QCBA 10, Medford 9; and, in the championship, QCBA 7, Cottage Grove 6. Top-seeded Panthers fall to Blue Earth Area, Waseca, finish 11-5

One of the best regular seasons in NRHEG High School baseball his- tory came to an end last week.

The No. 1-seeded Panthers dropped two home playoff contests Tuesday and Thursday, losing 14-0 and 10-4 to Blue Earth Area and Waseca, respectively.

It took the Panthers 10 innings into the postseason before they notched their first run. Jackson Chrz lasted only a third of an inning against Blue Earth, allowing five runs. In that contest, the Panthers recorded six errors and only allowed three earned runs. Sam Olson pitched 3 2/3 inning in relief. allowing no runs. Jared Lee allowed nine runs in relief before Chrz reentered to record the final out of the sixth inning.
