The 2023 season finally came to an end last Saturday for NRHEG High School track and field athletes.
It didn't happen without fanfare.
The Panthers claimed two places and set a school record in the Class A state meet at St. Michael- Albertville High School.
"It was a wonderful performance by all the Panthers!" said NRHEG coach Duey Ferber.
The Panthers' top place winner was senior Will Tuttle, who finished sixth with a time of 15.20 seconds in the 110-meter high hurdles. He broke his own school record in the preliminaries.
Lucas Hanna, a senior, placed seventh in the discus with a throw of 151 feet even.
"Lucas set a personal record in the discus," said Ferber. "It was wonderful to see him take home a medal."
Tuttle missed the finals in the 300 intermediate hurdles, clocking 41.19 for 12th in the preliminaries.
Junior Evelyn Nydegger qualified for state in two events, but fell short of the finals, placing 13th in the 100 hurdle preliminaries in 16.94 and 13th in the 300 intermediate hurdles with a time of 48.87.
The Panther's other state qualifier, freshman Quinn VanMaldeghem finished 15th in the 800 prelims in 2:31.71, miss- ing the finals.
