New Richland City Council

A new, all-electronic document management system, discussed briefly at the April 28 meeting, was approved Monday night by the New Richland City Council. In his proposal to the council, City Clerk Wayne Billing said that due to the amount of documents handled by the city each year, switching from a paper system to one that is more efficient in the struggle to keep track of important documents and respond to information requests would be potentially immensely beneficial.

The document management system provides keyword search, document versioning, comparison and collaboration, web publishing, workflow automation and e-mail integration, among other things; software that would, in the long run, simplify the city’s knowledge base. According to Billing, switching to an electronic system would ease the burden on the city created by regulations such as the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and HIPAA, which require the city to produce more documents and track them more methodically.

What’s more exciting than a boat ride?

A cruise down the St. Croix River on a paddlewheel riverboat.

For the second time in school history, that’s where NRHEG prom-goers are headed for the annual spring gala set for Saturday, May 7.

Activities begin at 2 p.m. at New Richland Care Center, where prom-goers provide an unofficial promenade for the residents and pick up their tickets for prom. Check-in at the NRHEG High School Media Center begins at 2:15. Pictures with Brant Hemmingway Photography will be in high school commons at this time as well; order forms will be available at the New Richland school office.

The 16th Annual Petal Pushers plant sale will be held at the Waldorf Community Center on Saturday, May 7 from 8-10 a.m. Sale of the plants are used to purchase plants for the Waldorf Community planters and gardens. Donations from the sale are also used to purchase items for the Community Center.

Friends of the Library are also sponsoring a Book and Bake Sale at the Waldorf Library. Proceeds will benefit the library.
