The NRHEG Clay target team, currently in their 11th season, will once again be participating in the MSHSCTL Fall League. This is actually the 11th season for the fall league as well so our team has been a part of this fall sport since its inception.

As of early September the team has 34 active athletes on its roster, but with the registration deadline set for Sept. 13, that number will grow. The team is once again looking for a competitive standing in their conference. The NRHEG team has been a top conference contender many times over their existence, taking home a number of conference titles. The fall season, while shorter than the spring season, is a great time for shooters to keep up those competitive skills while at the same time allowing for new shooters to get a feel for the sport. This is typically the season that the team sees 6th grade students join as it is their first season of eligibility.

The team has eight returning seniors: Alex Dobberstein, Cale Flatness, Rylee Gruenhagen, Walker Krampitz, Miranda LaCanne, Trevor Lenort, Ashton Raimann, and Clay Stenzel. Each senior will bring to the trap range their own level of experience which will help the team succeed. In addition, there are currently six new members on the roster with more to come in the next week.

Top returning shooters include Eva Wayne, Miranda LaCanne, Keria Lenort, Neela Wencl, Alex Dobberstein, Reese Routh, and Clay Stenzel all of which finished in the Top 25 for Conference averages last spring. The team only lost three athletes to graduation, so it will be a well experienced squad on the range.

The team shoots each week at the Owatonna Gun Club. Anyone interested in following the team can come to our shoots or follow the team on Twitter @ClayNrheg or on Facebook by searching NRHEG Clay Target Team.

For the second year in a row, and only the second time since 2015, the opening game for the NRHEG High School football team sent fans home cheering, as the Panthers came away with a 28-14 victory Friday, Sept. 3.

“NRHEG came out on top in a hard fought season opener against the knights,” said NRHEG head coach Marc Kruger.

The Panthers jumped on the Knights early, scoring the first touchdown of the game on a six-yard run by junior running back Andrew Phillps. A two point conversation by Clay Stenzel put the Panthers up 8-0.

The Knights would answer, though, before the end of the half, shrinking the Panther lead to 8-6 at halftime.

The NRHEG cross country teams opened the 2021 season at the Stewartville Invitational, Thursday, September 2.

“The NRHEG cross country team had a very solid outing at our first meet of the season this year,” NRHEG head Coach Miles Otstot said.

The boys finished in 16th place out of the 20 teams with 361 points.

Overall, we were very happy with how our boys performed today,” Otstot said. “This is a young team with only one senior, so to see this strong start is exciting and it will be great to see them grow as runners and as a team throughout the year.”
