The NRHEG boys basketball team evened it’s record at 3-3 after winning one of three games during a holiday tournament at Bethany Lutheran College. A good Panthers team looked to do well entering the tournament, having won this same tournament in 2016, a year the Panther’s earned a state tournament berth.

After an unfortunate break in action, the Panthers played hard against the Saints, ultimately in a losing effort, in the opening round of a Holiday tournament, Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021.
The Panthers kept it close, trailing 29-22 at halftime, but according to NRHEG head coach Isaigh Lundberg, “We just didn’t have our legs at the end of the game.
“I thought we had a good first half and did some really good things. We started the second half well and played hard, but as the game went on, we got tired. St. Clair took advantage of 11 turnovers in the first half and we were lucky to only be down seven.”

The NRHEG boys’ basketball team improved its record to 2-1 after an exciting 71-68 win on the road at St. James.
The Panthers led by 13 at one point in the first half by forcing St. James into poor shots which led to layups on offense.
“We got off to a great start,” NRHEG head coach Isaiah Lunderg said. “And then we got into some foul trouble that let St. James back into it.”
At halftime the Panthers led 42-35
The second half was a lot like the first half. “We did a lot of good things on the offensive end I thought and got a lot of good looking shots,” coach Lundberg explained. “The problem was that we continued into foul trouble and kept St. James in the game by fouling too much.”
This game came down to free throws with 33 by St. James ensuring a close game. The good thing for the Panthers was that they made theirs down the stretch going 18-25 in the game, to seal the victory.
Senior Porter Peterson had an explosive game leading the Panthers in scoring with 32, followed by Daxter Lee, 19; Jaxon Beck 6; Tyrone Wilson 6; Charlie Nissen 4; Sam Olson 2; Will Tuttle 2.
