The NRHEG wrestling team went 1-2 in a quadrangular at Waterville Monday, Feb. 6, defeating Blue Earth Area 45-36 while falling to WEM/JWP 38-29 and Cannon Falls 45-30.
"We wrestled well tonight," said NRHEG coach Shawn Larson. "We started the season giving up 60 points or more in dual meets, and we finished with a night where we gave up 38. Even though we lost two of the three duals, I am proud that we are competing at the level we are going into the postseason. In the WEM/JWP dual we probably had the best matchup with another team we have had since we wrestled them last season. There were many good matches in this dual. When we can have that many close matches, even if we are losing, we are giving ourselves a chance to win as a team."

The offense was outstanding last week for the NRHEG High School girls' basketball team.
But the defense may have been better.
The Panthers lit up the score- board, twice totaling 79 points, while twice allowing a high of 32 in three Gopher Conference victories, improving them to 18-3 overall and 12-1 in the conference.
The streak started Tuesday at Medford, where the NRHEG girls rolled to a 40-17 halftime advantage on their way to a 79-32 triumph.
"The girls came out focused and ready to play," said NRHEG coach Onika Peterson. "We controlled the game from start to finish. It was a great team win."

The NRHEG high school boys' basketball squad looks like it's trying a new strategy: team basketball.
The boys defeated a middle-of- the-pack Blooming Prairie squad at home Friday night 60-54.
“We came out hot,” said NRHEG head coach Dan Schmidt.
Following good ball movement, Sawyer Prigge and Sam Olson hit three-pointers on the Panthers' open- ing two possessions. Two minutes later, Daxter Lee drove and passed to the open man and Olson hit another open three to put the Panthers up 9-3 early.
