Alvin Groskreutz, 87-year-old resident of Waldorf, died peacefully on Monday evening, January 8, 2018, at his home with his family by his side. 

Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Vista Evangelical Covenant Church in rural New Richland. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Vivian Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Starkson & Steffel Funeral Home-Arnoldt Chapel of Janesville. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Funeral services for Lois Williams will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Chaplain Don Malinsky will officiate. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Hollandale Cemetery at a later date.

Lois Jane Williams, age 66, died on Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault, MN. She was born on March 21, 1951 to parents Alice Tyhuis and Richard Hendrickson. Lois was raised in Hartland and attended school in New Richland.

Lois loved working at the Canton Café for 15 years and was also a waitress at the Coffee Haus. She loved playing BINGO at the Eagles, playing board games like Yahtzee and Trouble, and watching Shadetree Mechanic. She was outgoing and a ‘mom’ to everybody. She used to play tag on the CB radio with her kids and was well known for her handle, “Ice.” She always had a fridge stocked with food and plenty of sweets available for her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Funeral services for Grace A. Hansen of New Richland, MN, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at St Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Richland, MN. Pastor Scott Williams will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St Peter’s Cemetery, New Richland.

Grace died Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Golden Living Center in LaCrescent, MN. She was 95 years of age.

Grace was born May 18, 1922 in Blue Earth, MN, the daughter of Edward and Eva (Ogilvie) Rosenau. After graduation from Waldorf High School in 1940 she was united in marriage to Orven R. Hansen in Waldorf, MN. Grace had been employed for over 30 years at the E.F. Johnson Company in Waseca, MN. After her retirement she worked for 10 years as an attendant at the Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland, MN.

Grace was confirmed in faith at the First Lutheran Church in Waldorf and became a lifetime member of St Peter’s Church in New Richland where she was active in afternoon Mission, Ladies Aid and quilting. In her free time she enjoyed dancing and embroidery. 

Funeral services for Rodney J. Spooner will be held at 10 a.m.on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Following the service, the body will be cremated.

Rodney passed away of natural causes at his home on Saturday, December 30, 2017 in Albert Lea. He was 51 years old.

Rodney Joseph Spooner was born on October 13, 1966 to David and Elizabeth (Wick) Spooner in Albert Lea, MN. He grew up in Hartland, and would graduate from New Richland-Hartland High School in 1985. Rodney enlisted and served for his country in the Minnesota National Guard for three years. On February 16, 1991 he was united in marriage to Tammi (Kreun) in Hartland. The couple would later divorce.

Rodney began working at a young age for Hi Yield in Hartland. He would go on to own his own trucking company, Spooner Trucking. He would also work for EPCO as a regional manager, and most recently, drove truck for Waterford Oil out of Northfield. Rodney was always working, and enjoyed the work he did.

When Rodney wasn’t working, he enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan, often saying he bled Purple and Gold. He loved his grandchildren, and would always look forward to spending time with them. Rodney was a person with high morals. He would always treat you with respect. He was the most selfless person that there was. He would give the shirt off his back to help somebody else before he would think about helping himself.

Funeral services for Larry Schutrop will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 at First Congregational Church in New Richland, MN. Pastor Pamela Jensen will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 28 at Bonnerup-Friedrich Funeral Chapel, New Richland. Interment will be in Shady Oak Lake Cemetery, Hopkins, MN at a later date.

Larry Roger Schutrop, age 74, died on Saturday, December 23, 2017 in New Richland, MN. He was born on May 28, 1943 to parents Al and Mary (Vomela) Schutrop and raised in Minnetonka, MN.

On June 7, 1969 Larry was united in marriage to Elaine Millang. Together they raised five children and became grandparents of 14 well-loved grandkids. He was a soft-hearted, loving, and protective father. They were members of the Congregational Church in Freeborn for many years.

Larry earned his degree in welding from the voc-tech school in Albert Lea and worked as a welder for Wells Concrete for almost 40 years. He also picked up side jobs throughout the years including painting water towers and working at the potato plant in Freeborn.

In his free time, Larry could always be found in the garage working on projects. He enjoyed woodworking and loved NASCAR, helping as pit crew chief when his son Chad raced cars. Larry will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor.
