Susan (Sue) J. (Christensen) Johnson of Richfield, Mn, formerly of Ellendale, Mn. earned her angel wings on Saturday, March 27th, 2021. She was 73 years old.
Sue was born on November 22nd, 1947 in Albert Lea, Mn. to Frederick and Lorraine Christensen. She graduated from Wells-Easton High School in 1965.
On July 20th, 1968 she married Jim Johnson in Wells, Mn.
Following graduation from high school, she began her 46-year nursing career in long term nursing care. She received her LPN from Faribault School of Practical Nursing, RN degree from Inver Hills Community College, and earned her BS in Nursing Home Administration from Metro State University. During her career, she worked as a nurse, Director of Nursing, and Administrator at many facilities including New Richland Care Center, Prairie Manor, St. John’s in Albert Lea, and Scenic Shores in Two Harbors as well as, post retirement Interim Administrator for Ecumen at Grand Village in Grand Rapids and St. Mark’s in Austin.
Sue was an avid sports fan. She especially loved the Minnesota Vikings and was a season ticket holder for over 40 years. She loved to travel, taking several trips to Europe. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she adored. She enjoyed spending time at her “retirement retreat” in Duluth as she could look out her window at Lake Superior.

Agnes Louise Matz, age 90, of Waseca, died Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Sterling Pointe Senior Living in Princeton.
Born on July 9, 1930, in Arlington, Minnesota. The only child of Harold and Emilie (Luehring) Peterson. She spent her younger years in Hamburg before her family moved to New Richland. Agnes attended New Richland Public Schools, where she enjoyed being a member of the chorus and glee club. She graduated in 1948. Agnes caught the eye of her beloved husband, John Matz, at the local soda shop. John said he had to meet this girl and soon after lost his heart to her. They were married on September 4th, 1960, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca. Together they shared 57 years of marriage before John passed away on December 3, 2017. Along with raising two children, Agnes worked part-time at, EF Johnson, and Brown Printing. Agnes enjoyed sewing and reading, spending many hours at the Waseca Public Library. Later in life she cherished spending time with her four granddaughters, two great grandchildren, and anticipated the arrival of the third. Agnes spent much of her time reading the bible and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she enjoyed attending services.
In 2016, Agnes moved with John to Sterling Pointe Senior Living in Princeton to be closer to family. She enjoyed the many activities at Sterling Pointe and remained active there until her last day. Agnes will be lovingly missed by her family and the staff at Sterling Pointe.

Suzanne Nelson, wife of Eric Nelson, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, in Carson, California. Her memorial service will be held at Vista Covenant Church, 14679 275th Ave., New Richland on Sunday, May 30. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. with the service starting at 2 p.m. and a graveside service to follow. A light lunch will be served in the church basement following the services. All family and friends are welcome to attend.

Penny Ann Purdie passed away unexpectedly on May 10th, 2021. She was 67 years old.
Family will hold a memorial in New Richland, MN at a later date.
Penny was born in Wells, MN on September 17th, 1953 to Marge Krause. They moved to New Richland, MN where she graduated in 1971. In 1973 she welcomed son Jason Skelton. Four years later she welcomed son P.J. Skelton.
Penny enjoyed watching her children play baseball, softball and football. She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins. In her spare time she enjoyed reading People Magazine and the Soap Opera Digest. She also enjoyed playing games on her laptop. Her happiest moments were when she was with her three grandsons. They always brought a smile to her face.
Penny is survived by her son Jason (Terina) Skelton, three grandchildren: Anthony, Espn and Nole, sister Becky (Harry) Kruse, brother Eric Purdie and many other relatives and friends. Penny is preceded in death by her loving son P.J., grandma (great grandma) and mother (grandma) Marge.
In lieu of flowers, donate to the brain cancer foundation in memory of P.J. or donate a meal to Red Leaf Café in memorial of Penny.

Ronald “Ron” Johnson, age 64, of Geneva, passed away on May 23, 2021.
Ron is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Jolee; children, Amy Svoboda and Josh (Amanda) Johnson; grandchildren, Gadge, Graci, Kaleb, Jozie and Lillian; mother, Inez; siblings, Rick (Becki), Ryan, Rollie (Cheryl), LuAnn (Brad) Prescher, and Ross “Poke”; uncle, Don (Gail) Johnson; mother and father-in-law, Don and LaVonna Ruhl; brother-in-laws, Jim (Diane) Butler, Jerry (Le) Butler, John (Ellen) Butler, and Joel Butler; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; and also, his special neighborhood buddy, Bentley.
Ron loved spending time with his family, especially his 5 grandchildren; they were his world. Every summer, he looked forward to going out to the cabin and getting to be outdoors with them. He loved to hunt, fish, weld, and he could fix just about anything. Ron enjoyed working at Wenger and Oswald Fishing before his health prevented him from working. Ron was passionate about helping others. He often volunteered at local community events and organizations such as Meals on Wheels. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed by his many friends.
