Dean Allan Richardson passed away unexpectedly on August 9, 2021, due to an accident on his way to work. A visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. with a memorial service at 2 p.m.. Dean was born in Albert Lea Minnesota at the Naeve Hospital on September 9, 1944, to Alert and Palma (Olson) Richardson. He attended New Richland school. He was raised on a farm just outside of Hartland, Minnesota. He lost his father suddenly at a young age and had to take on the responsibility of the man of the house. Dean was known as a man who moved at the beat of his own drum. He was a lover of animals, especially his dog Spooky. Dean was known for teaching his older grandkids how to ride four-wheeler, shoot guns, fishing, cutting wood, and most of all his love for fireworks. You learned really quickly to run when you heard him yell “fire in the hole”. He enjoyed classic cars, Harley Davidson, and good ole’ music. He would give you the shirt off his back but first he would ask you if you wanted a beer. He worked for numerous trucking companies throughout his life and had a huge love for being a truck driver. It was in his blood. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him and knew him.

Carol was born on June 18, 1925 to Henry and Clara Thompson.  Third from the last of seven, she was the only child born in a hospital and the runt of the family, not expected to live.  She did live to see her 96th birthday and passed away early on July 9, 2021.  Her toughness met its match and she just couldn’t fight any longer.  She was tired and ready to go.

She was so tough, in fact, that she outlived her parents, all her siblings, both husbands, a son-in-law, some nieces and nephews, and all of her cousins.

Ruth Eloise Fischer, 98-year-old resident of Ellendale, MN passed away July 28, 2021 at her home.

Ruth was born on December 16, 1922 in McLaughlin, SD in Carson County to Jacob and Rose Fischer. The family moved to New Richland, MN where they lived on a farm owned by O. B. Anderson. Ruth worked for some time at Land of Lake in New Richland. She moved to Richmond, CA and went to work in the shipyards during the war.  She then worked a midnight shift in a shipyard warehouse office and took daytime classes in a commercial school. Ruth went to work for the Union Oil Company of San Francisco, CA where she remained for 36 ½ years.  She was a member of the Desk and Derrick Club of San Francisco for 25 years.  Ruth took early retirement and moved back to New Richland, MN where she joined the First Congregational Church.  She was the president and treasurer of the Women’s Fellowship group. Ruth was a long-time volunteer at the New Richland Care Center. She attended the first meeting of the New Richland Historical Society, became a charter member in August of 2001, and became the chapter’s secretary in July of 2003. Ruth moved to Ellendale, MN 10 years ago.  She enjoyed her family, reading, being outside, and working in her yard.
