Tyler Anthony Hansen, 82, of Rush City, Minnesota passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at M Health Fairview Lakes Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Tyler was born February 19, 1940 to Reuben and Shirley (Shinofield) Hansen in Albert Lea, Minnesota.  He moved to Ellendale at the age of five when his father purchased Pete & Rube’s Market.  He attended Ellendale High School and graduated in 1958.  On November 10, 1963, he married Shirley Peterson at the Le Sueur River Lutheran Church.  

Christena Jane Gasner, 87, of Ellendale, died Sunday, May 15, 2022 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

She was born January 14, 1935 on a farm in Summit Township in Steele County, the daughter of Louis and Mary Emma (Smith) Olson.  She graduated from Ellendale High School in 1953.  She then began working as a secretary at Jostens in Owatonna.

Christena met Robert at the Owatonna Roller Rink as they both were avid skaters.  She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert Gasner, on June 27, 1954 at the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva, sharing 64 years together.  They operated a dairy farm near Ellendale for over fifty years.  She enjoyed taking loving care of all the various animals, along with planting all of the crops. 

Carole (Hanson) Schember, 92, of Geneva, passed away on Saturday, April 30 at the Owatonna Hospital. 

Carole was born in Freeborn County on August 31st, 1929, to Richard and Christine (Christensen) Hanson and grew up on the family farm near the Freeborn/Steele County line, graduating in the class of 1946 from Ellendale.

Carole was active for a number of years in the Freeborn County Bath 4-H Club and, following her graduation, she was employed by Art & Marge at Lerberg’s in Ellendale.

James “Jim” Fred Stiernagle, age 85 of Hartland, passed away on January 5, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. 

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Freeborn Cemetery. 

After the graveside service in our father’s honor, we will be having a gathering to share some of our favorite memories, stories, to laugh, to cry and remember a wonderful person who is missed greatly at the Stiernagle Family Farm. (29837 645th Ave, Hartland, MN 56042). 

In place of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Freeborn Cemetery.

“Rae” La Rae Karon (Holland) Michalko, 78, of Bemidji, Minnesota, formerly of Blackduck and Hartland, MN, died on Monday, February 28, 2022 at her home in Bemidji.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackduck, Minnesota with Rev. James Sorenson officiating.  Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck.
