Verla Mae (Enzenauer) Holman, 79, of Hanibal, MO died at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Luther Manor Nursing Center. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hannibal. Burial was at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Pastor Michael Stoerger officiated.
Verla was born on March 17, 1932 in Ellendale, MN to Wm. and Amanda (Ginapp) Enzenauer. She married James Robert (Bud) Holman Nov. 22, 1958 in Hannibal. He preceded her in death along with her parents; and a brother Donald Enzenauer.
Survivors include a son Kevin (Nancy) Holman of Columbia, MO; one granddaughter Abigail Holman; one brother Marvin (Ruth) Enzenauer of Ellendale; one sister-in-law Lou Lutes of Columbia, Mo; seven nieces and nephews; God daughter Linda (Gary) Seykora; Dan Enzenauer, Dawn (Dave) Macht, Tim Enzenauer, Suzann (Tracy) Skaar, Dr. Frank (Irina) Quattrocki and Louann (Ray) Frizzell.
Verla was a professional seamstress.

The funeral service for Helene Ingeborg Eastvold of Hartland, Minn., will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, Hartland, Minn. Reverend Dennis Frank will officiate. Interment will be in the Hartland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church.
Helene died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center. She was 93 years old.
The memorial service for Eva Annette Bure Hulburt will be at the Round Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Glenville, Minnesota on November 5th at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea, Minnesota at 3 p.m.
Eva, 97, passed away Sunday morning, October 9, 2011 at San Antonio, Hospital in Upland, California.
Eva was born August 28th, 1914 to Carl and Christine Bure in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. Her family moved to a farm in Freeman Township where she also attended school.
She was united in marriage to Floyd Hulburt on March 9th, 1933, and resided on a farm at Norcross, Minnesota where they raised turkeys.
Marjorie (Marj) Jeanette Rossing, born October 12, 1922, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 18, 2011. Marj lived her life in Princeton, Stillwater, and Ellendale. She was married to Myron Rossing on November 22, 1944. She called herself a homemaker but that word doesn't begin to describe the woman she was. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and at age 83 became an author of her own daily devotional. Her book sales made her known from coast to coast. Marj also led Bible studies for over 55 years, her most recent on her 89th birthday. She also lead retreats and prepared the material for the studies herself. Her life was full and satisfying.
Alex John Karsten, age four months, died of mitochondrial disease at his home in Owatonna, MN on Saturday, October 15, 2011. Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Meridan, MN, Pastor Gary Rusinko officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and will continue one hour before services on Wednesday. Burial will be at LeSueur River Lutheran Cemetery.

Clayton died on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN, surrounded by his loving family. He was 81 years old.
He was born on May 5, 1930, in rural New Richland, the son of Lester and Lillie (Verplank) Walstrom. Clayton attended country school and then graduated from New Richland High School in 1948.

Pola Ann Jeddeloh was born on September 28, 1917, in New Richland Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of John and Lena (Maslakov) Miskoff. She lived her youth in New Richland, Minnesota, where she attended school and graduated from high school. She received her teaching degree and later received a Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree in education from Mankato State University. She taught in New Richland, Minnesota area, for almost 50 years. She retired when she was 68.
The funeral service for Esther Emilie Ida Christensen of Ellendale, MN will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2011 at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale, MN. The Reverend Richard L. Sliper will officiate. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, Ellendale. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.
Esther died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at the New Richland Care Center. She was 92 years old.
Esther was born May 30, 1919 in Berlin Township Steele County, Minnesota to Louis W. and Josephine (Fischer) Ribbe. She attended Country School District #46 and graduated from Ellendale High School. Esther married Harry Christensen on October 8, 1940.
Ross L. Anderson, 78, of Ellendale, MN and formerly of Randall, MN and Burnsville, MN passed away on October 6, 2011.
Ross graduated from Ellendale High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-55. He was employed by the Northern Pacific Railroad; later Burlington Northern until his retirement at age 55. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter, and loved tinkering in his garage and gardening.
Robert “Lloyd” Smith, 92, of Owatonna died on Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Owatonna Care Center.
Robert Lloyd Smith was born August 17, 1919 near Ellendale, the son of Robert and Frances (Pechacek) Smith. There he was raised and attended country school. Following school he helped work on the family farm. Lloyd entered the United States Army during WWII and was stationed in Montana, California and Hawaii. After his honorable discharge, he returned the Ellendale area.
Lloyd was united in marriage to Eldora Jensen on June 8, 1947 at Community Lutheran Church in Geneva. They made their home in rural Steele County where he farmed. In 1959 the couple moved to Owatonna and Lloyd worked in landscaping and later for the Owatonna Public School District. He retired in 1982.

M. Bert Lurth passed away at age 87, on September 22, 2011 at Kindred Hospital in Ontario, California.
He was the son of Bert and Ethel Lurth of Kasota Township, Minnesota. He graduated from St. Peter (MN) High School in May of 1942. He enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Bell. He moved to San Francisco after his tour of duty and initiated and extended PIP (Postal Instant Press) on the West Coast. He later retired and moved to Rancho Mirage, CA and was a five-star volunteer for Eisenhower Hospital for over 20 years.
He was a former member of the Lions Club, Rotary Club, long-time member of Spiritual Center in Palm Desert and member of Prime Timers of the Desert.
He is survived by two sisters Mary Lou Weydert of New Richland, MN and Joann Oldenberg of Nicollet, MN; two sisters-in-law Sylvia Pettis of Mankato, MN and Mary Ann Lurth of St. Peter, MN; and adopted sons Leonard and Mabo of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Ethel Lurth; and brothers LuVerne and Elmer.
A private ceremony to “Celebrate the life of our beloved M. Bert Lurth” is yet to be arranged.
Memorial Services for Norman A. Johnson, age 84, will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 1st at 10:30 a.m. with a time for visiting with the family an hour before. Norman Arnold Johnson, Jr. passed away September 25, 2011 at New Richland Care Center where he received such wonderful compassionate care. His wife and family were by his side.
JoAnne Abbas, 63, of New Ulm, died of cancer Saturday September 24 in her home surrounded by loved ones. Memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rural Courtland. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service at the church.
JoAnne was born August 22, 1948 to LuVerne and Ruth (Kluender) Radke on a farm near Waldorf, MN. She graduated from Waldorf High School in 1966 and went on to attend secondary school in Mankato. On December 4, 1971 JoAnne married Mitchell Abbas at the St. John’s Church in Minnesota Lake, MN. She worked in retail for K-Mart in New Ulm and Home Depot in Mankato.
Billie R. Gunsolus, age 85 of Janesville, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 24th at 2:00 p.m. at Janesville United Methodist Church in Janesville with Rev. Bescye P. Burnett, officiating. Interment was in the Alma City Cemetery.
Visitation was held on Saturday from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at Janesville United Methodist Church. Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville handled arrangements.
Billie Ralph was born on December 12, 1925 in Freedom Township, Waseca County, Minnesota to Ralph and Anna (Winters) Gunsolus. He graduated from Pemberton High School in 1943. Billie was united in marriage to Victoria Pennington on January 5, 1952 in Mankato. They lived a short time in NE Iowa, then later moved to Minnesota, settling in the St. Clair area.
