For some, late models, classics, and muscle cars rekindle memories of days past. Fulfilling a dream of purchasing their car of choice, fixing it up, turning it on, and listening to that engine purr, as it turns onto the roadway – there isn’t anything better.

So if you’re looking for a Corvette or other classic car, let S & S Motorsports help you find it.

“Watching customers drive out with their dream car is the most rewarding experience,” said owner Darrin Stadheim.

Since 1993, S & S Classic Motorsports in rural Ellendale, has  taken ‘the work’ out of the equation. Whether for show, a need for speed, or pure pleasure, they go in pursuit of providing their customers with a sweet new ride.

Steve Stadheim has been restoring cars since he was 12.

“I think Steve was born with cars on his brain,” said his wife, Doris Stadheim.

This passion soon took hold of his son, Darrin, as well.

“I’ve been buying and selling cars since I was 14 years old,” Darrin Stadheim said. “The hardest part for me was waiting to get my driver’s license. I grew up on a farm, and learned to drive when I was five or six.”

Although, finding acceptable quality cars at times may be challenging in their business, that is also what keeps them motivated.

“I enjoy the pursuit of a car,” said Steve Stadheim.

“The hunt is what makes it successful,” Darrin Stadheim added.

Darrin and Steve Stadheim are out of the office two or three times a week, attending trade shows, car shows, or auctions in quest of fulfilling customer’s requests. However, they are always available by telephone.

“We sell a lot overseas, so 9 a.m.-5 p.m. doesn’t mean a thing,” Darrin Stadheim said.

S & S Classic Motorsports sometimes finds it difficult to know where to start and stop. Every vehicle they consider purchasing, they put through a 90-point-plus exam.

“Do we restore it? What is the best fit for that car in the market?“ said Darrin Stadheim. “We have purchased very few cars, that we don’t end up working on.”

S & S Classic Motorsports also employs an ASE Mechanic, to perform and assure all vehicle maintenance for customer satisfaction.

Every day brings a new crisis, and sometimes, stress does creep in.

“We don’t throw wrenches,” Steve Stadheim chuckled. “You have to laugh it off and take it like a grain of salt.”

“I jump in a corvette, and drive it around,” Darrin Stadheim said.

The S & S Classic Motorsports office is located at 8509 SW 72 Avenue. Their showroom is located at 11401 SW 72 Avenue, rural Ellendale. Primarily, business hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Evenings and weekends are by appointment. You may also visit their Web site at ssmotorsportsowatonna.com.

Although S & S Classic Motorsports isn’t located in the best geographical area for their business, they wouldn’t change a thing.

“I love where we live,” said Darrin Stadheim.

S & S Classic Motorsports is selling investment vehicles to a global economy. International buying power and the endless reach of the Internet has helped S & S Classic Motorsports, Inc. customers to find the cars of their dreams. They have happy customers in Australia, Norway and Italy, just to name a few.

In maneuvering this exciting economy, Darrin’s outlook, perhaps, says it best.

“You have to be sure of yourself, because without courage, you won’t be able to function throughout the day. I have learned patience from my dad, and optimism from my mom.”

All of these qualities are guaranteed ingredients of success, professionally and personally.

Although working together may make this family unique, once they walk out the office door, business is left behind. This dynamic duo is focused, energized, and driven in each and every part of their lives. They are well grounded, fun and family-oriented men.

The Stadheims do what they love, and do it with diligence.
