The New Richland City Council commenced its first meeting of April on Monday night, the 8th, at 6:30 p.m. All members were present, along with an abnormally large crowd for a regularly scheduled meeting.

The agenda was viewed and approved, along with the consent agenda. First up was Scott Eads presenting the New Richland Police Department Report. For the month of March, 84 calls were received along with 54 additional contacts. No serious of felonious crimes were reported. The purchase of two new tires, along with the removal of snow tires, was requested at the amount of $386.62. The Council approved the purchase along with the report.

Next was the City Maintenance report. A request for the purchase of rock, at the amount of $540, was approved, and the removal of several trees was discussed, along with the supposed replacement of locks on several buildings in the community, although no permanent decisions were made. The maintenance report was then approved.

The Fire Department presented their monthly report next, including several purchase orders, which were approved. An upcoming training class was also discussed and approved at the grand total of $650. The Fire Department report was approved.

The last topic of discussion revolved around the future use of the library building in town. Community members representing the New Richland Area Food Shelf were there, hoping the council would consider donating the building to house the NRAFS, which is currently located at Trinity Lutheran Church.

No permanent decisions were made as to the fate of the building.

The meeting was then briefly closed so members could discuss a personnel issue. Immediately after re-opening the meeting, the council adjourned.
