Laurence V. Ruedy, 82

Laurence V. Ruedy, age 82 of Waseca, died on Monday, August 20, 2012, at Homestead Hospice in Owatonna.

 Born on August 9, 1930 in Waseca, Minnesota, he was the son of Ward and Magdelena (Beck) Ruedy.  He attended rural Waseca County schools and graduated from Waseca Central High School as Salutatorian in 1948.  He married Georgena Klampe on June 7, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  After getting married he and his wife farmed in Waseca County for over 50 years, retiring from farming in 1992 to care for his ailing wife.  He enjoyed old-time dancing, square dancing, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.  He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca, Richland Squares, Steele Steppers and the Faribo Si Do square dance clubs.

He is survived by his children, Loretta (David) Schlaak of Waseca, Jeff (Ann) Ruedy of Waseca, Craig (Nina) Ruedy of Wichita, KS, daughter-in-law, Connie Ruedy of Waseca;  six grandchildren, Christian (Nicole) Ruedy, Jason (Nichola) Ruedy, Lisa (Jeff) Decker, Lori (Eric) Baertsch, Wesley (Sara) Ruedy and Dan (Joy) Schlaak; twelve great-grandchildren; brother-in-law-George (Ardean) Klampe of Waseca; several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son-Brad Ruedy, brother-Warren Ruedy.

 The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. John Omans officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.  Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca is handling the arrangements.
