Laurie Manthe, age 66, of Good Thunder, MN, and recently of Waldorf, MN, died Thursday, August 9, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 13, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Wayne Eichstadt will officiate. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN is in charge of arrangements.
Laurie was born February 26, 1946 in Waseca, MN, the daughter of Erwin and Erna (Gerdts) Eichhorst. Laurie attended P.B.I. and after graduating, she worked as a hospital ward clerk in Minneapolis. On March 18, 1972, she was united in marriage to Michael Manthe at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf. They started a family who became Laurie’s primary concern; caring for, teaching, correcting, and most important, loving them. Laurie liked being outside in the wind and working in the vegetable and flower gardens. She really loved going fishing with her kids and later fishing with her grandson! Laurie was a very caring and loving person.
Laurie is survived by her husband Michael Manthe of Waldorf; children: Nathan Manthe of Mankato; Erin (Paul) Karnitz of Spokane, WA and their son Joseph; Joshua (Paula) Manthe of Eagle Lake, MN; father Erwin Eichhorst of Waldorf; parents-in-law Marvin and Lois Manthe of Mankato; brother Brad (Sherry) Eichhorst of Verona, WI; sister Pamela (Greig) Hodgkins of Russell, Manitoba.
She was preceded in death by her mother Erna; sisters Joanne Bode and Kari Scharfe, and grandparents Walter and Margaret Gerdts.
