Prigge earns honor in girls’ soccer

The 2016 Waseca/NRHEG/JWP girls’ soccer team had its best season ever, finishing with a record of 12-5-1 and winning the Big South Conference for the first time in school history.

The team made it to the section semifinal game for only the second time in school history, falling to Northfield 1-0. Only graduating two seniors means that the 2017 season should be just as exciting.

NRHEG fall sports award winners were announced for the 2016 season at the annual ceremony Thursday, Nov. 10 in the high school gymnasium in New Richland.

They were, by sport:

Football

• Most Valuable – Jack Schultz

• Most Valuable Defense – Alex Buckmeier

• Most Valuable Offense – Perry Peterson

• Most Valuable Lineman – Schultz

• Lunch Pail Award – Schultz

• Captains – Schultz, Chad Agrimson, Sam Prigge

Jack Schultz, NRHEG senior guard and defensive tackle, has been selected to play in the 2016 Minnesota Football Showcase All-Star Football Game on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. at US Bank Stadium.

“We are thrilled for Jack to be given the opportunity play alongside Minnesota's top football players,” said NRHEG coach Dan Stork. “ He has worked extremely hard and has dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball all season. He is very deserving of this recognition and opportunity and he will make the most of it.”

Dec. 3 will feature an entire day of celebrating football throughout the state of Minnesota. The event will culminate in the 44th annual all-star game. Tickets are now available with all proceeds going directly to the MFCA and the Tackle Cancer Campaign.
