In a wild weather week that started with 2 inches of snow on the ground and moved into temperatures in the 60s, it was NRHEG sophomore Caden Beauvais who provided the most stable showing at the Owatonna Gun Club in week 4 of clay target competition.
Beauvais shot a 49 out of a possible 50 targets. This not only moved him into the leader position for the team, but maintained his spot in the State Top 100 shooters.
While Beauvais was the only marksman to shoot a near perfect two rounds, he was joined by Walker Krampitz and Levi DenHerder as athletes who scored a single round of 25 out of 25. For DenHerder, it was a first in competition.
The team did not fair as well in their attempt to take over the third-place position in Conference 15 from from Blaine. The Panthers were outscored by their rival by about 800 points and now find themselves 900 points behind going into the final week. This is not an impossible gap to overcome as they did outscore Blaine by 1000 points the previous week. But, it will mean more athletes will have to step up their rounds.
