Building on hard work and success has finally come to fruition. The NRHEG track stars seasons have finally come to an end, a successful ending at the MSHSL State tournament.
After a tumultuous season that saw ups and downs and ultimately the first conference championship since 1979, the NRHEG track competitors did not want to see their season come to an end.
Despite their best efforts and hard work, the track season had to come to an end at some point. It did not end without it’s rewards.
Brady Agrimson continued his success on the track this season on the biggest stage of his career. Representing NRHEG in the 110 meter intermediate hurtles, Agrimson competed against the best competition in the state and proved he was on the same level. Agrimson placed 3rd out of the nine best athletes in the state representing his class. Running in lane three, Agrimson showcased why he deserved to be in the state meet,
The 110 meter was not the only event that Agrimson participated in. Running in lane seven, he ran the 300 intermediate hurtles. Although he did not fair as well in this race as the other, to be involved in two state events is an accomplishment in itself. Agrimson placed sixth in his second event of the day.
“It was a great season for the boys this year,” said NRHEG head track coach Duey Ferber. “I’m very proud of these boys.”
Agrimson was not alone in the events at the state tournament last weekend. He had a friend with him. Ryan Hannegrefs has been a reliable jumper all year for the NRHEG track team, and was evident by qualifying for the state tournament.
Making his first state track meet appearance, Hannegrefs represented NRHEG well. In a crowded field, Hanngrefs did his best and placed ninth. This was his first state appearance along with Agrimson.
“If you consider that this was the first time we won a conference championship in over thirty years, it was a great year,” said NRHEG head track coach Duey Ferber. “We couldn’t have done it without these two and the hard work and dedication demonstrated from the entire team this spring.” It was a long season for the NRHEG track team, but ultimately it had to come to a conclusion.
