How much did the NRHEG Panthers miss Geoff Ramaker?

Maybe more than he missed them.

Ramaker, a senior who returned to the lineup three games ago after recovering from a broken foot, topped the 100-yard barrier in his first two games back — and the Panthers won both.

On Tuesday, he bettered that by a bit as the Panthers made it three in a row.

Ramaker ran for 321 yards as the NRHEG football team crushed Kenyon-Wanamingo 42-6 in an opening round Section 2AA quarterfinal game at New Richland.

Ramaker scored four touchdowns and averaged 9.2 yards per carry as the Panthers outgained the visitors 464-230. Quarterback Sam Lundberg ran for two touchdowns while going 2-for-7 passing for 44 yards. Kevin Minter had 10 tackles and Casey Rosacker intercepted two passes. David Lassahn, Carter Tollefson and Mitch Akemann recovered fumbles.

NRHEG, seeded No. 4 in the section, led 22-0 after one quarter, 29-0 at halftime and 42-0 after three periods.

“We played well on both sides of the ball,” said NRHEG coach Dan Stork. “It was by far our best performance up front, rushing for more than 400 yards. Ramaker going for 321 was fun to see.”

Ramaker's total is believed to be the third best in school history. Dan Routh ran for 360 yards on 38 carries in 2006. Joe Balfe gained 343 on 41 attempts in 2003.

The victory earned the Panthers a rematch with undefeated conference champion WEM Saturday at Waterville. The Bucs are rated No. 1 in the state in Class AA.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to try and knock off the No. 1 team in AA,” said Stork.

The Panthers improved to 5-4 overall. No. 5 seed Kenyon-Wanamingo finished the season 3-6.
