“OfficeMax works with the community to collect donations,” said Stoltzman. “Our customers donate school supplies or cash when they shop to a collection box in the store. Employees and area businesses contribute as well. Each year a different deserving school in our service area is selected to receive the supplies. This year was Ellendale’s turn.”
Teachers for the “A Day Made Better” award are selected by their respective principals based on three categories: 1) passion for teaching, 2) innovation in the classroom; and 3) dedication to the profession and the success of their students. If selected, OfficeMax employees join the principal and the rest of the school with a surprise event to honor the teacher and present the donation. Radtke’s award recommendation reads as follows:
Jamie is an outstanding educator. She really gets to know her students and is very effective at recognizing how they learn and what she needs to know and do to reach all of her students to help them reach their full potential. Her students are enthusiastic and want to learn all because of how she engages them. When you see her in her classroom you just know how much she enjoys teaching and you can see in her students faces how much they enjoy learning. She is always looking for new ways to keep teaching innovative. She is a super teacher!
“I was extremely surprised and honored to be recognized with this award,” said Radtke. “I feel very lucky to work with so many other teachers at NRHEG who are just as deserving of an award. Our district is blessed with talented educators and wonderful students that make my job very rewarding. Thank you to Office Max for the generous contributions to our school.”
