Together they made their home in Ellendale for more than 50 years.
Kay was a member of First Lutheran Church in Ellendale where she was active in Mission Circle, Ladies Aid and Altar Guild.
Kay had been a nurse in Albert Lea, Minneapolis and St. Peter, before she worked at the Ellendale Post Office for 25 years.
She enjoyed bowling, card club, sewing, reading, bingo, quilting, ceramics and in earlier years, had served as a cub scout leader.
She will be lovingly missed by her husband Gil of Ellendale, children Brenda (Randy) Dokken of Albert Lea, Sheila White of Ellendale and Gary (Deb) Nelson of Clara City, MN; grandchildren: Herb (Lori) Moon, Tiffany (Josh) Krueger, Joe (Mandy) Moon, Holly (Joe) Bates, Brock (Heather) Nelson, Geoffrey Nelson, and Johnny White; great grandchildren: Meaghan, Maddie, Ava, Jayda, Owen, Ashton, Mikala, Greyson and Addie Jo; sister Mavis Bartsch of Geneva, MN, and sister-in-law Dorothy Towne of Emmons, MN, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Arnold and Hilda Nelson, brother Ervin Hovland, son-in-law Gregory White, brothers-in-law Clayton and his wife Audrienne Nelson, Lloyd and his wife Bernice Nelson, Donald Bartsch and Earl Towne.
