George Marvin Anderson, 98

Funeral services for George Marvin Anderson of New Richland, MN, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland, MN. Pastor Paul Andree will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St Olaf Cemetery, New Richland, MN.

Mr. Anderson died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the New Richland Care Center. He was 98 years of age.

George was born November 29, 1915 in Byron Township, MN, the son of Andrew and Carrie (Noftsker) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church by the Reverend J.C. Walledom. He attended school at the Matawan School.

George was united in marriage to Anne Barbara Wipplinger on January 27, 1938.Together they celebrated 70 years of marriage. George and Anne spent 64 years on their farm northwest of New Richland, MN.

He was an active lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on the church council. He also served on the Matawan Creamery Board and was a member of the Lions Club. His passion was his family and the love of farming.

George is survived by his three children: Paul (Margaret) Anderson of New Richland, MN, Mary June (Larry) Krohn of Hartland, MN, and Steven (Mary) Anderson of Albert Lea, MN. There are 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. He is also survived by his brother Russell (Avis) Anderson of New Richland, MN, sister-in-law Arzella Wipplinger of Wells, MN,  and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Carrie Anderson, his wife Anne, two sisters; Eleanor and Laura and three brothers; Harold, Arnold and Walt.
