Leading the NRHEG team was Noah Lund, a Waseca student shooting with the team for a second year. Noah scored a 46/50 which was the top gun for the conference. He is joined by Collin Christenson, Kyle Bartz, Frank Altrichter, Tyler Raimann, Carter Hagen, Zach Eustice, and Tyler Habana who each finished the week in the top 25 for the conference. The team shoots on Monday nights at the Owatonna Gun Club starting at 4 p.m.
With the wind blowing in what seemed every direction, the NRHEG clay target team got off to a rough but promising start last week.
It was rough as most of the top shooters did not post their typical scores, yet promising as the total team effort was still enough to place the team solidly in second place in their conference. Conferences in the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League (MSHSCTL) are determined by team size. NRHEG is in Class AAA Conference 1 with teams from Edina, Mahtomedi, St. Thomas Academy, Zimmerman, East Grand Forks, and New York Mills.
Edina is the leader after week one with 3210.5 points. NRHEG has 3044.5. Scoring is complicated in the MSHSCTL, but basically they use a true team system that allows everyone on the team to contribute to the team's final score. There are no bench players in clay target shooting.
