“We thank them for all the time, effort, commitment and service they have put forth for the community,” said Larry Goehring.
The committee has discussed some new ideas for the weekend including a teen dance, cribbage/other card game tournaments, bean bag tournament, wing eating contest, mini-tractor pull, tractor pull for kids, wacky Olympics, reunions of employees of NR businesses, float contest – and more.
Of, course the parade, street dance, dunk tank, car show, Lions baked potato dinner and other favorites are also in the works. A carnival? Options are being discussed. It is not cheap.
“We need your help and cooperation in preparing for and perhaps even working a few hours during the weekend,” said Goehring. “We can’t do this alone! We bring people to NR for the weekend. You can help us capitalize on their presence! They will patronize or learn about your business. It is a prime time to promote your business or organization. We aren’t asking for monetary donations – we need people to take part in the planning and the weekend.”
The first step you can take is to attend the next meeting Wednesday, February 19, 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
“Thank you for your time and consideration,” said Goehring. “We look forward to working together to promote our City and to have a great weekend.”
