Delerene was born March 12, 1923 in Morristown, MN, the daughter of Leslie A. and Vivian (Witter) Leader. She attended public school in Morristown. On February 28, 1942 she was united in marriage to Glen Herbst in Morristown. Delerene had been employed during the war effort with the DuPont Co. in Rosemount, MN, and for many years with Brown Printing in Waseca retiring in 1988. She was also a Stanley Home Products Dealer. They made there home in New Richland from 1945 through 1998 before moving to Park Place in Owatonna for 12 years. She enjoyed her friends and staff at Park Place where they made her feel at home.

Delerene was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a life member of the VFW Post 1642 Auxiliary. She loved gardening, flowers, dancing and old time music. She enjoyed crafts, oil painting knitting and crocheting. Together with her husband they wintered in Yuma, Arizona for many years.

She is survived by her children Sharon (Norman) Eckart of New Richland, MN, Leslie Herbst of Waseca, MN, Glenda (Dennis) Blouin of Ellendale, MN, Jean (Scott) Reese of Owatonna, MN. Grandchildren include Michael (Deb) Eckart, Michele (Allan) Kraay, Jeffery (Tanya) Herbst, Sarah (Sam) Berg, Patricia Herbst, Angela (Jeremy) Mortenson, Kari (Rex) Smith, Jesse Blouin, Brooke (Lon) Thiele, Mitch (Shelby) Reese. There are 17 great grandchildren: Christina Arvis, Bryant Eckart, Cody Kraay, Dalton Kraay, Parker Herbst, Sadie Herbst, Cooper Herbst, Grace Herbst, Caden Berg, Keyten Berg, Kristen Anderson, Carson Mortenson, McKenna Mortenson, Savannah Thiele, Jasmine Thiele, Brayden Reese and Isaiah Dawson. There is one great great grandson, Eric Arvis. Also surviving is one sister, Darlene Hayes of Killeen, TX, brother-in-law Stanley Herbst of New Richland, and sister-in-law Hazel Bock of St Peter, MN.

Delerene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter in law Barb Herbst and six siblings.
