Funeral services for Beverly I. Johannsen, age 93, will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, Hartland. The Rev. Dennis Frank will officiate. Interment will be in the Hartland Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Beverly died on Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Albert Lea.

Beverly Irene Johannsen was born on June 7, 1920 in Freeborn County, the daughter of Sidney and Nikoline (Jakobson) Gilbertson. She grew up in rural Freeborn County and attended District 16 and District 21 schools. On October 2, 1937, Beverly was united in marriage to William C. Johannsen in Gordonsville.  The couple farmed together and Beverly worked at Herter's, and in housekeeping at the New Richland Care Center.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Cross of Glory Lutheran Church where she served as the Altar Guild president for many years. Beverly enjoyed gardening, flowers, needlework, reading, playing bingo, her Bunco club, and watching westerns. Blessed be her memory.

Survivors include her children Jeanine (Larry) Staines of Arnolds Park, IA, Warren (Linda) Johannsen of Twin Lakes, Dale (Dixie) Johannsen of Freeborn, and Jill Witter of Albert Lea; daughters-in-law Gerda Johannsen of Northfield, and Judy Johannsen of New Richland; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, sons William Jr. and Jerry, daughter Julie (Ed) Supalla, and granddaughter Jessica.
