NRHEG track boys 4th at MR, Blue Earth

The NRHEG boys’ track and field team competed in a pair of meets last week, placing fourth at Maple River Thursday and fourth at Blue Earth Area Friday.

Gopher Conference favorite United South Central/Alden-Conger won at Maple River with 150 points, followed by LCWM/Nicollet with 118.5, Madelia-Truman 96.5, NRHEG 66.5, Maple River 45.25, Mankato Loyola 42.25 and Minnesota Valley Lutheran 39.

The Panthers’ lone first was by senior Tony Wacholz, who tossed the discus 131-4.5. He was second in the shot put at 43-3.25.

Also taking second was the Panthers’ 4x100-meter relay team of Matt Webster, Geoff Ramaker, Brian Billing and Hunter Eustice.

Freshman T.J. Schiltz was third in the 1600 and 3200.

Evan Ferber placed in fourth events, taking third in the triple jump and sixth in the high jump, long jump and 300 hurdles.

Other NRHEG places: Tyler Holz, third, pole vault; Tyler Crabtree, third, discus; 4x200, fourth (Chester, Billing, Ramaker, Eustice); Bayerkohler, fifth, 400 and sixth, 800; 4x400, sixth (Karter Sletten, Bayerkohler, Hans Frank, Raece Johnson); Ryan Schlaak sixth, pole vault.

“Tony Wacholz had a great night,” said NRHEG coach Duey Ferber.

LCWM/Nicollet scored 125 points to win at Blue Earth. Following were Madelia-Truman with 84, BEA 78, NRHEG 49, Martin County West 36.

NRHEG claimed three firsts, by Schiltz in the 3200, Wacholz in the discus and Ferber in the high jump. Ferber was also second in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the triple jump. Wacholz took fourth in the shot put.

Others: Holz, third, pole vault; Bayerkohler, third, 400 and fifth, 800; 4x200, third (Chester, Billing, Eustice, Webster); Chester, fifth, long jump; Schlaak, fifth, pole vault.

The Panthers traveled to Blooming Prairie Tuesday, May 3. They compete at Maple River May 10.
