Schedule heats up for NRHEG golf teams

After a slow start, the NRHEG golf teams have been busy as of late, with three recent competitions.

Most recently, the Panthers hosted their only home meet of the year at Riverview Golf Course west of town Thursday, May 16.

The NRHEG boys totaled 196 strokes for nine holes to 180 for Blooming Prairie and 195 for JWP. USC won with 166.

Jake Langlie shot a 46 to lead the Panthers, followed by Colton Ryg 48, Cole Lenort 49, Kelson Titus 53, Macoy Schwierjohann 54 and Brenden Arnold 62.

Nate Pederson of USC captured medalist honors with a 38.

USC won the girls’ meet with 195 strokes for nine holes. Blooming Prairie had 214, NRHEG 253.

NRHEG scores: Maddy Reed 51; Brenna Hagen 58; Liz Eder 68; Ryley Koziolek 76.

The medalist was Blooming Prairie’s Anna Noble, who shot a 46.

The Panthers played at Hayfield Tuesday, May 14.

The girls won as the Vikings did not field a full squad. Panther scores: Reed 49, Brina Bergland 51, Hagen 57, Jessica Nafe 66, Koziolek 68, Eder 73.

The medalist was Hayfield’s Samantha Dahlem with a 48.

The NRHEG boys lost 203-233.

NRHEG scores: Langlie 50, Schwierjohann 55, Titus 58, Zach Edon 60, Ryg 60, Arnold 61.

Hayfield’s Brady Becker shot a 42 for medalist honors.

The Panthers took on Bethlehem Academy at Faribault May 13, where the girls again won as the home team didn’t fill out its squad. Scores: Reed 49, Hagen 57, Bergland 60, Nafe 63, Eder 68, Koziolek 78.

Reed was medalist.

The boys fell 188-217. Scores: Langlie 46, Lenort 51, Schwierjohann 60, Ryg 60, Titus 63, Mike Altermann 86.

Langlie was the medalist.

“Jake and Maddy played well,” said Panthers coach Brad Root. “However, the rest still have a long way to go.”
