Allan Mark Sletten, 51, of Ellendale, died Friday, August 31, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital.

Allan was born September 1, 1960 in Cooperstown, North Dakota, the son of Ferdinand and JoAnn (Paddock) Sletten. He attended grade school in Valley City, ND and in 1973, the family moved to Austin where he attended high school. Following school, Allan worked for Walker Feeders in Hayfield, the Foundry in Albert Lea, Hormel Institute in Austin, Dave’s Disposal in Owatonna and for the past 31 years Allan worked for Hydro-AX, now Caterpillar, as a programmer and machinist. He was united in marriage to Kari Kubista on November 23, 1988 in Owatonna.

Allan was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first. Not only his family, but he was always willing to help others. A jack-of-all-trades, he could fix most anything, but enjoyed working on cars, plumbing and electrical work. Kari and Allan bowled for many years on a league. He also loved to bake, mostly chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, or banana bread. He also enjoyed playing card games like 500 and cribbage.

He is survived by his wife Kari Sletten of Ellendale; two daughters, Amy (and Ryan) Crabtree of Wells; Amber (and Dan) Lewer of Ellendale; a son, Steven Sletten of Minneapolis; his mother, JoAnn Sletten of Albert Lea;, three brothers, Earl (and Colleen) Sletten of Owatonna; Mike Sletten of Oregon; Terry Hamill; a sister, Valerie (and Mike) Johnson of Ellendale, and four grandchildren, Aiden and Jase Crabtree and Sydney and Mikayla Lewer. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ferdinand Sletten; a sister, Marjorie Sletten and his grandparents.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Michaelson Funeral Home with Major LaVonne Fones officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna.
