Leo Milton Dodd passed away Thursday July 26, 2012 in Alberta County, New Brunswick, Canada. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the church and continued one hour prior to services. Wing-Bain Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Please sign the online guestbook at www.wingbain.com.

Leo was born July 31, 1934 in Montevideo, the son of Ivan and Hazel (Espenson) Dodd. He went to country school and later graduated from Montevideo High School. He served his country in the United States Army, receiving his honorable discharge in 1958, and continued to serve in the National Guard until 1961. While in the service he was stationed in Nevada and worked with atomic testing. While home on leave, he met a cute little brunette at Rosy’s Supper Club.

On May 9, 1958 Leo and Marlyne Osmundson were united in marriage at the Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. Their union was blessed with three children.

Leo and Marlyne farmed and raised their family in Rosewood Township. After retiring in 1991, they moved to Glenwood and then settled back in Montevideo for a short time before moving to New Richland to be closer to family.

Leo was an active member of the Rosewood United Methodist Church. In 1964, he received the Chippewa County Farmer of the year award and was the tri-county chairman for the Minnesota Pork Producers. He was active with the Lions Club in Watson and Glenwood, and 4-H, both as a child and when his children were growing up. Leo served as a board member for Brookside Manor from March of 1962 to January of 1984.

In his leisure time, he restored Ford Model Ts and enjoyed fishing. Leo especially enjoyed traveling, whether it was on mission trips with his daughters or vacation trips with Marlyne, he was able to see much of the United States, Mexico, and parts of Europe, and of course, Canada.

Leo is survived by his children: Clay (Laura) Dodd of Bloomington; Lisa Dodd (Jeff Torp) of Ellendale; Heidi Dodd of Minneapolis; six grandchildren: Thomas, Wesley, Maude, Jordan, Abigail, and Cecelia; brother: Neal (Dona) Dodd of Alexandria; sister: Lou Nash of Coon Rapids; and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marlyne; his parents; two sisters: Blanche Saienga and Doris Williams; and their beloved dog Tucker.
