Helen C. Kruger, age 93 of Waseca died on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Colony Court in Waseca.

Born on January 6, 1919 in Otisco Township, Waseca County, Minnesota she was the daughter of Carl and Jennie (Swanson) Frisk.  She attended rural Waseca County school district #48 near the Vista community and graduated from New Richland High School in 1936.  On December 17, 1942, she married Martin Kruger at Vista Evangelical Lutheran Church.  They farmed in Wilton Township until Martin’s death in 1977.  Shortly after Martin’s death, Helen moved to her new home in Waseca where she lived until 2006 when she moved into Colony Court.  Throughout her life, Helen was very close to her immediate family.  She loved spending time with her family and especially the annual fishing trip to Leech Lake.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a great joy to her.  The time she spent watching the Twins, Vikings, and playing games and cards with them was very special to everyone.  Helen was also very involved with the activities of her many in-laws, nieces and nephews.  She enjoyed family holidays and reunions with relatives. 

Helen loved to play bingo, cards, and “shakin' dice” with her sister-in-law and her old neighbor from the farm.  During her later years, she enjoyed playing cards and games at Colony Court.  She was active with a birthday club and extension for many years.  

Helen traveled the United States and abroad.  The highlight of one of her trips was traveling with her daughter to Smaland, Sweden and stopping in the home areas of her mother and father and visiting with Swedish relatives.  On a subsequent trip Helen spent six weeks touring Europe. 

Helen was an active church member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca.  She enjoyed going to church and have the opportunity to visit with friends during the Fellowship Hour.  She was also active with her church circle and the quilting group.  Helen lived a full and joy filled life always surrounded by family and many relatives and friends. 

Helen is survived by three children, Sharon (Howard) Lewer of Waseca and their family, Tim (Sara) Lewer of New Richland and children Katharine and Benjamin, David (Cheryl) Lewer of Waseca and children John, Owen and Jay;  Wayne (Joanne) Kruger of Waseca and their family, Marni (Tim) Flitsch of Lakeville and children Katie Jo and Kyle, Mitchell (Amy) Kruger of New Richland and daughter Emma, Matthew Kruger of Minneapolis;  Michael (Kathryn) Kruger of Mendota Heights and their family, Eric (Johanna) Kruger of Shanghai, China and children Claire and Jackson,  and Anne Kruger of London, England. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings-Mabel (Lloyd) Peterson, Hugo (Eldora) Frisk, Alice (Gay) Zarth and Richard (Isabel) Frisk; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law-Alvin (Ethel) Kruger, Ewald (Viroqua) Kruger, Leonard (Essel) Kruger, Mamie (Leonard) Ewest, Irene (Emery) Fritz, Ella (Lyle) Kelling and Viola (Paul) Peterson.     

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. John Omans officiating. Visitation will be Friday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.  Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca is handling arrangements. dennisfuneralhomes.com
