The NRHEG track and field teams had a strong performance at last Tuesday’s Sub-Section 5A meet at New Richland.
The girls advanced six individuals to section, finishing fourth as a team. The boys, fifth as a team, qualified eight athletes for section.
For the girls, Carlie Wagner won the high jump, clearing 5-6 to tie her school record. Danielle Krueger won the 400 in 1:03.28. Krueger, Wagner, Gretchen Ramaker and Hailey Schuller teamed for first in the 4x200 relay in 1:50.44.
Wagner advanced to section in two other events. She was second in the 200 in 27.51. She joined Krueger, Ramaker and Raelin Schue for second in the 4x200 with a time of 52.9.
Emmy Hobbs cleared 8 feet for second in the pole vault.
The final section qualifier for the girls was Mikayla Lindell, who tossed the shot put 34-1 for fourth place.
Other NRHEG places: Katharine Lewer, fifth, 1600, 5:50.83 and sixth, 3200, 12:45.34; Schuller, fifth, 100 hurdles, 18.06, sixth, 300 hurdles, 55.05 and seventh, long jump, 13-8.5; Abby Crabtree, fifth, pole vault, 7-0; 4x400, fifth, 4:35.94 (Ramaker, Marnie Wagner, Lewer, Schlinger); Lindell, sixth, discus, 101-7; 4x800, sixth, 12:34.49 (Crystal Olson, Shantaya Olson, Destinee Meyer, Kristy Possin); Crabtree, eighth, 100, 14.88; Marnie Wagner, eighth, 400, 1:07.54; Paige Bolduan, eighth, high jump, 4-4; Abby Wacholz, eighth, triple jump, 30-2.5.
USC/AC won the girls’ meet with 215.5 points, followed by Waseca with 183, WEM 114, NRHEG 112, St. Clair 80.5, Maple River 64, JWP 53.
The NRHEG boys had three first-place finishers. T.J. Schiltz won the 3200 in 10:07.37, adding a second in the 1600 in 4:38.11. Ross Chester leaped 19-8 for first in the long jump. Geoff Ramaker won the 100 in 12.02.
Ramaker, Raece Johnson, Nate Krause and Kevin Minter combined for second in the 4x200 with a time of 1:40.29.
The other section qualifiers for the boys placed fourth, with Tyler Holtz clearing 11 feet in the pole vault and Keith Maxon tossing the discus 129-8.

“It was a great job by the boys tonight,” said Panthers coach Duey Ferber.
Waseca’s boys won with 217 points. The rest: Maple River 202, USC/AC 122, St. Clair 92, NRHEG 89, JWP 56, WEM 46.
The Section 2A meet is Saturday at Mankato West High School.
