The Freeborn County Historical Society is presenting Eddie Cochran Weekend June 9-11.

On Friday, June 9 there will be a Cruise-In social at 6 p.m. at The Green Mill and Country Inn and Suites. Registration begins at 3 p.m. Twelve awards will be presented.

On Saturday, June 10 will be the annual Car Show from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and closes at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $10 per car (dash plaque, goodie bag and shop rag to first 200 entrants). Event is free to the spectators. Eighty awards will be given at 2 p.m. with cruise to begin at 4 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., a free concert will be presented by The White Sidewalls.

Museum exhibits will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

On Sunday, there will be a pancake breakfast at the Fairlane Building on the Freeborn County Fairgrounds from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. At 10 a.m., a rock and roll service will be held at United Methodist Church.

Memorial Day Services will be held at the Clarks Grove Baptist Cemetery on Monday, May 29 at 9 a.m. If there is rain, services will be held at First Baptist Church in Clarks Grove.

 

Memorial Day services at Hartland will be at 9 a.m. at Cross of Glory Church.

The speaker will be Seaman Devin Ausen.

 

The Waldorf American Legion Post #587 Memorial Day Program will be held at 10:15 a.m. May 29 at the Waldorf Community Center on Main Street. Guest speaker will be Ron Wood, a Navy veteran. There will be readings and music selections by JWP High School students. The program will be followed by a parade to the community and First Lutheran Church cemeteries. A pot luck dinner will be held at noon at the Community Center. Everyone welcome.

The annual Memorial Day program in New Richland will be held on Monday, May 29 at 11 a.m.

The program, conducted by the New Richland American Legion members, will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church. Following the program the New Richland Legion Auxiliary will be serving a chicken dinner (until gone). This year’s meal includes pizza, ranch chicken, potato salad, fruit salad, buns, cake and coffee or lemonade. Cost: Adults $10, children 10 and under $5.
